Isn't the sport automatic gearbox faster than manual? I'm wondering about the time 0-60 mph in 5.9s for automatic gearbox, but is that time for sport+ mode?

There was a lot of weight reduction talk, but seems like not much follow-through. 3400lbs for the 328 gives no reason to go with that engine size for performance oriented folks. With less than 170lb upcharge to 335. Makes the 3280lb E46 330i look feather light.

Exactly. Only 50kgs difference.(328iA vs 335i 6MT)

The EU spec 335i goes from 0-100kmh in 5.5 s(both the GMT and the 8AT) fwiw....
The US 328i 8AT in 6.3 s. That's almost ONE second difference.

Your not saying the F30 328 auto will do 0-60 in 6.3, are you? because that is wrong.

No sir.

I'm saying the 328i A US spec(on that sheet above) does 0-100kmh (62mph) in 6.3 seconds. Look at that sheet. The EU spec(www.bmw.de) 335i 6MT & 8AT do 0-100kmh(62mph) in 5.5 seconds. Which is a difference of 0.8seconds. Almost ONE second. The US spec 335i 6MT does 0-100kmh(62mph) in 5.7(0.2s slower than the EU spec 335i)

Don't confuse 0-60mph with 0-100kmh please.

You're right but BMW always plays conservative with those numbers so for sure both models will be faster than what was posted in the spec sheet. And let's not compare numbers cause in the US we can buy these cars MUCH CHEAPER than in the EU.

I know that. Would I want to move to the USA for that? No. Sorry.

EDIT: If I was from the US, I'd already be driving a F10 M5 or 991S, but on the other hand, where I live we still can drive fast, as in FAST.(I live about 45mins driving from the German border)

I can drive fast here too there are several drag strips/road course tracks less than an hour from Chicago. I don't have to go to another COUNTRY to do it.
And btw my wife is from Germany so we go visit her family there at least every 3 months...I also get to enjoy parts of Germany's no speed limit autobahns

Is it interesting to anyone that the gear ratios for the 8AT are the same for the 328 & 335? Admittedly, I'm no transmission guru, but I figured there would be some tweaks for differences in power delivery.

Yea, which is why its so impressive that reviews i have read are saying the F30 feels lighter and more nimble than the e90. Cant wait to finally drive this thing

The final drive ratio is different. Perhaps the torque graphs are so similar they decided to keep the gear ratios the same and just use a different final drive.

Huh?? The spec sheet above quotes the 328iA at 0-60 in 5.9 seconds (manual at 5.7 seconds). I just looked at the BMW UK site and they quote the 335i at 0-62 in 5.5 seconds (which seems to line up nicely with the above quote of 0-60 in 5.4). Point being, I'm only seeing a maximum of a .4 second difference between the two cars. Doesn't really matter, because historically the German car manufacturers have understated power and acceleration figures. I wouldn't be surprised if the 328i does the 0-60 run in what BMW is quoting for the 335i, and the 335i probably does it in 5 seconds.

The final drive is the same for both the 328iA and the 335iA. I think that's why ShewieDo found it odd. I, too, find this odd as I would expect at least the final drives to be different. The manual transmissions are completely different, gear-wise. Clearly BMW is going for fuel economy with the 328i because the manual has two overdrive gears.

Final drive is the same for AT for both 328 and 335

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the 19" Style 401 wheels are 225 front/255 rear. At least that's what my dealer told me when I ordered them.

I notice the track is 5-6mm wider for the 335 - the extra weight? I cant imagine they would do that just for appearance.

Yes and They should also be Run Flat Tires as with the 18".
