Interesting, pics still show the E90, but these do appear to be for the F30.

Manual mileage is listed as:

328i - 23/34
335i - 20/30

Well, my wallet will like those numbers for the 4 cyclinder.

How accurate do the gov sticker MPG numbers reflect real life results. I read somewhere that the numbers hardly match real life results and somebody recently was considering revaluating the whole testing procedure.

I would use the new F30 numbers as a comparison to past model to get a good idea of real world. My sticker on a 2008 335i was 18/27 and I get approx. 21 mpg in combined driving - the new F30 335i should get about 26/27 combined in ral world which is pretty good. (New 328i should be about 2mpg better than that)

They just re-evaluated the system in 2008.

Interesting that an auto 335i gets nearly the same mileage as the manual 328i. Doesn't make me want the auto, but the ZF 8s sure is improving the efficiency of cars.

We're beginning to see that a manual transmission really has no benefit in terms of fuel efficiency anymore, only offers the fun factor.

There doesn't appear to be as big difference between 328i and 335i as I thought there would be. I assume a 328i would be around 29mpg in mixed driving, while a 335i would be around 26mpg. That is impressive for such powerful engines.

Its important to note that the only reason the automatic provides better fuel economy is because of the two very long over-drive gears. The driveline losses associated with the automatic are still more than the losses associated with a manual.

I believe the economy figures posted are in Normal mode and that ECO-PRO will get you better economy than what is posted.

Very good MPG numbers. If the upcoming 335d receives a similar 8 speed auto, we could easily see 40MPG!

considering that the 2011 BMW 335d gets 23 city / 36 highway, this means that the new F30 328i gets one better MPG city and matchs the 335d Highway. Isn't the new 328i performance wise faster than the 335d?

well my X3 is rated at 19/26, mostly suburb driving (so not pure city but not highway...) and we are getting 21.4 MPG right now. My C63 which is rated 12/18 I get 15 MPG yearly average (usually closer to 14 in the summer and 16 in the winter). I think Turbo's will usually tend to be more towards the City numbers for "mixed" driving, seems like they can really fudge the EPA numbers when turbos are used. even on long highway stretches I have yet to see my X3 hit 26 mpg, always seems to cap out around 25 mpg (which is funny because the 26 number is actually an average of highway measurements meaning it tested between say 24 and 28 MPG, I think window stickers convey this).

the 335d the US has is very outdated, we need the 300+HP 35D engines that Europe is getting right now. Better MPG than our 35D and much faster.

problem is because the US doesn't use much diesel fuel, our prices are pretty high, sometimes they are lower than petrol (summer I think) but in the winter petrol is usually cheaper like right now. I am pretty sure in Europe Diesel is cheaper than petrol fuel all year... Many of us on bimmerpost would buy these awesome Diesels but the general US population is still in the dark ages with their knowledge on the engines.
