Looks like one owner drove that car for 9 years. Regular service. Gets in wreck and car has to be towed. Then he trades it in a few months after accident. Maybe he just decided it was time to move on or maybe the car is trashed. Bet the dealer gave him 2-3 thousand on the trade in. Sounds like a risky investment to me.

2012 E92 M3  [5.00]
NO! It's 10 years old and been in an accident. The car will run about $11,500 with tax.

According to KBB this car is "Poor" because of the accident. The Fair value is around $9500 with a clean title. KBB doesn't rate "Poor"

Stay Away.

Hell no. Your first car should be something that is very reliable and not potentially cost you hundreds of dollars in repairs - like this car. I'd go for a reliable Honda Civic as a first car.

The car might be inexpensive but are you prepared to spend hundreds, if not thousands, on repairs when things start failing? It's not a question of if, but when. Do youself a favor, get yourself a beater, and save up the money to buy your next car which you really want in cash.

The question is not whether you should buy it, but whether you should buy it at that price.
You probably would accept it if it were given to you for free. You would also absolutely reject it if it cost $30,000. The true value is somewhere in that range.
An accident in which airbags deployed will significantly decrease the value of your car.
There is no way I would even think about buying that car at that price. I think half of that is fair. If you can get it at that price or a little more it may be worth the gamble. Otherwise, keep looking.
Maybe the seller will negotiate if you make the case that no one will likely pay what he is asking for a car that has been in an severe accident.

"reliable" honda civic thats not the point here, we're talking about a whreked BMW, to buy,or not to buy. nothing to do whit reliability!!!

He was providing knowledge on what to buy for a first car..

And thats probably the best advice this person will get. Its not to smart to buy a 10 year old BMW that you are going to keep dropping money on just to keep running.

Ok,

A part for a Honda and a part for a BMW is a big difference. Also you could probably get a newer Honda for the same amount of money as the older BMW.

Send a message via AIM to xquisit
I'd rather buy a 2006 e90 330i, but I am bias.. it was my first car (sports pckg + navi).

I've seen a sports package jet black on black manual 78k mile 2006 e90 go for 14,700 on autotrader.
