If you look at Brey335i sig pic and turn the brightness up on your screen, you can see the neighbor's car in their driveway and the grass strip divding them:

I agree with the big rock ideas, I would do the same thing.

Or I'd put this in the grass if you want to catch them in the act and see all of their tires deflated once they get on the road and you come out and say "told you to stay off my driveway, see what happens when you don't listen?!"

Hopefully they will realize they have to get 4 tires replaced at their igorance and at their expense...

but then I would be concerned with kids if they walk on the grass and stepped on this...

Reread his post. He's already approached them, apparently more than once. The issue is not his comfort in approaching them, the issue is their lack of response/respect to his request.

Why dont you call the police? Write down the license plate for every trespasser and date/time they do it.

i would just video record them, show them the video, and if they don't do anything, get the police involved. some people just don't learn how to respect.

1) park as close as you can on the edge of the drive way, so you give them minimal room.

2) lawn ornaments.

3) flowers/ rocks

4) park on your side of the grass.

5) Buy a box of chocolate, and leave it at their door. Have a letter inside saying, please stop driving on my side of the lawn, its ruining my grass, and what not...

The picture is dark. But this is how I was parked one night when they did it... they had a little more clearance that time I guess.

Honestly I would go and tell them straight up that you dont want them to be going over the grass onto your driveway anymore...its your property and half of that grass is yours. Putting up rock or a fence on that small amount of grass is even more rude just to just tell them imo.

Don't waste the cops time with petty disputes like this.

there's definitely a few options here

I think the box of chocolates one is nice and respectful, and it will be a 3rd attempt at a peaceful resolution.

if that is no good, then your next options are:

tear up grass at end of property and put gravel just so there's no more damage

put a couple rocks that can be easily removed again when the relatives go back to their own lives

most laptops with webcams on them have a motion activated recorder, set it up in your window, it will record them crossing, notify neighbor you have video of them trespassing and damaging private property, and if they don't stop, the authorities will be involved. (this way, you don't really waste the cops time, you're just threatening the neighbor with the problem of the police)

figure out which is the most responsible one of them and have a talk with them and see if they will talk to the ones that are too lazy and driving across your lawn.

go to local auto store and get reflective driveway markers, place along property line, if you come out and they are damaged the next day, they have done damage to your personal belongings as well as tresspassing, but if they can't get the hint on that one, they are thick as mud.

You have been nice and civil, and i respect you for that, but you have to remember, the ones driving across your property aren't your neighbors, they are guests, they will leave when your actual neighbors health improves or moves to the next stages. so your relationship with your neighbor is your only concern. Your relationship with the guests is not.

There comes a point where the cops will have to be involved anyway.

If they aren't listening by now (I'm sure they think they can do whatever the hell they want since the OP hasn't done anything), then they'll just keep on keepin on and won't listen. If it comes down to it, I would threaten them that you'll call the cops, but don't actually do it until they do it again.

If you do anything more drastic like some of the recommendations in here (i.e. nails in the lawn, standing outside with a gun), the cops will be knocking on the OP's door...

Cops in my opinion should be there to deal with serious shit. Not, "oh no someones driving on my foot of lawn." Be a man and handle your own shit, not be like the little kid in kindergarten that would wine to the teacher for every little thing. Guess what no one ever liked that little kid.

How far will you let it go until you decide to get the cops involved?

If you ask them nicely and they don't stop, then you tell them harshly to stop doing it and they still don't comply, what do you do then? You damage their property in retaliation? You stand outside with a gun or something stupid like that?

In today's world, anything you do in retaliation can have some pretty hefty consequences for you, so at some point you'll need to get the cops involved, no matter how tough you're trying to be.

There's only so much you can accomplish trying to be a tough guy.
