Am i reading this correctly?
Xenon option requires the mandatory purchase of headlight washer system. Text says (only available with headlight washer system) Thus if you want Xenon lights you have to fork out $2k all up? (1300+700) The reason i am puzzled is why do BMW bother listing xenon lights on its own as a $1300 separate option, when they might aswell save the extra space and combine the two options on the one line. ![]()

Thank you very much for posting the pdf of the Australian options pricing. It has helped me decide on my 328i package.
Is there any information about the cost of the M Sport line for Australia?

pleasure guys. happy to share!
hi, no news on the M package just yet. word is won't be out till for OZ production till around August so pricing I guess would probably be out around May or June. your guess would be as good as mine. for that reason, I've now gone with a new A5 (last one before the facelift - got a ripping price for it!) for now and see what happens later on in the year to see if worthwhile getting into the new M sport 328i... from all accounts, great car. I love the M sport... |

I was at my dealer today, same zero info on M-Sport package cost. Only info I found is that metallic paint is extra across the board, with or without M-Sport.
I wan't 100 certain about metallic & M-Sport but to date, it has been extra. Seems the trend continues. Of course this applies to Australian specced cars. Anyway, Based on M-Sport optioned other cars, including E90, my guess is that the cost will be around $5500. My dealer expects $4500. We shall have to wait a while.

You need to take some quoted power figures with a grain of salt. For decades, the industry standard amp power was quoted in Watts RMS (Root Mean Square).
There is total system power as well. Peak Power, continuous average power and many other methods to sell the 'power' of an audio system. Some other manufacturers will quote peak, peak to peak or relatively recently, PMPO - Peak Music Power Output. I do not think there is any real definitive cross calculation from PMPO to RMS, but as an example a system claiming say 100 watts PMPO might actually turn out to be a 15 - 20 watt RMS system, more likely even less. In addition, most car audio system's speaker impedance is 4 ohms (even as low as 2 ohms), while most home systems are generally 8 ohms. Manufacturers may quote amp power into a 6 ohm load but then use 8 ohms speakers in its system, especially when a manufacturer want to 'up' it's power figures. Twists and turns. Power figures quoted need consistency in impedance taken into account. There are so many different methods of amp power that manufacturers use. From my electronics training & background, RMS is the flagship standard I use. I had the factory hk system in my E46 and it was fine, I have the Logic 7 in my E90 and it works beautifully. No doubt whatever the RMS value of the hk system is in the F30, it too will impress.

Why no 330d/335d?
Would have loved if BMW brought in the 335d.

I think it's a launch limitation (fewer models while they ramp up production lines, etc). When they launched the E90, there were only 3 models (320i, 325i & 330i) available.
For Oz, I think they'll stick with the 330d as it slots in between the 328i and 335i. |
