F30 3 Series Sport, Modern, and Luxury Lines detailed and compared
BIMMERPOST NEWSF30 3 Series Sport, Modern, and Luxury Lines detailed. Well I know some questions have popped up about the three new lines being offered by BMW as options on the new F30 3-Series. I myself had quite a few questions, and here is a breakdown of what these lines are all about. First and foremost, these lines are not the only 3 cars we can choose from. A 3-Series can be ordered as is and optioned how you want to option it, just as has always been with a BMW. These 3 "Lines" are just extra options on top of what is normally offered. I tend to think of them as just an extra package, akin to a sports package, except that the package contains many more stylistic elements. Another way to think of them would be a pre-packaged BMW Individual car. Because these lines are so customized, down to the color of the stitching, the lines can not be combined or mixed. BMW has put out the following video to summary the three different lines, it begins with the following youtube video which then links to 3 additional youtube video (depending on which line you want to hear about). The video is narrated by BMW's own designer's including Christopher Weil. I've also including a small snapshot below of each of the three Lines. Sport Line

I'll take the Luxury line! The closest to the 5er in terms of looks which I hoped for the F30. All that's left is to see is how the steering and handling feel and according to BMW, the electric steering shouldn't affect response and accuracy.

Mark, I still don't get it.
So if I order a base 335i and build it up fully optioned what exterior do I get? Luxury,Modern, or Sport? What interior choices do I get if I do not opt for a specific line???? ![]() |

Is that possible? My understanding was that M-Sport is essentially fourth line akin to these lines (though it will consist of even more features, such as the unique bumper, etc.), and not something you can add on top of any of them. I suppose it is possible that the red interior will be available with M-Sport as well as the Sport Line. So far, though, we've only seen the blue interior for M-Sport.

Also, in some regions, there will probably be only limited options available if you choose not to order one of the lines. For example, you may just get black or gray leather with no contrast stitching, and the choice between one type of wood or aluminum for the trim.

The way I see it (and I may be completely wrong) is if you choose to get a sport, modern, or luxury line; you pretty much get a predetermined car that you can choose a few style options within those lines. You can still order options that aren't exclusive to those lines (like heated seats or navigation) but you can't order a modern line with red leather seats for example. It seems like you will still be able to order a car exactly the way you want it without having to order a sport, modern, or luxury line.

The interior is starting to grow on me, but that colored trim running across the dashboard seems weird. Also the different color stitching and leather looks a little cheap. If they have so many combinations for us to choose from, I guess it should be any trouble having a combination where the stitching and the leather is the same. The exterior is beautiful. I can definitely see myself driving the new F30.

Another thing - the Sport+ mode for the DEC is found only on the Sport line. I doubt that it will be available ad-hoc.
