this new coupe looks like shit. I hate the roofline and the long overhangs. I want to like it, but just can't. Looks like an old Corrado or Audi 5000, only gone totally wrong.

Because of the controversy that will launch with this car. The prototypes have underneath the camouflage, vacumned plastic sheets and foam moulds that hide the overall details, it makes the car look fatter and chunkier when underneath it combines the sportier profile of the E92 with the elegance of the 6er.
The good news is that underneath the disguise lies a very good looking car ,which really enhances the stylish and individual looks of the E92 with modern BMW design language and features but still keeping that individual look which distinguishes it from the 3er Sedan to be classified as the new BMW 4er Coupe And Cabrio. The sleeker more dynamic roofline will also provide the basis for a very sexy looking four door Gran Coupe model which will bring the sleek sportiness , premium image and ambience of the 6er Gran Coupe to the Premium entry sports segment.

now, that is one sexy BMW composite you have there. I like the direction that BMW has been going now. The cars look stunning and will make me stick with the brand for many years to come. Now the hard part will be wanting to get rid of my E36 coupe. I may just keep it as a momento as my very first BMW purchase. However, my wife disagree's and wants me to replace it with something newer at some point in the future. :-)

I'm not 100% sure, but something seems OFF at the rear ! The trunk is too short and the roof extends too much to the rear. The rear end looks "bulky" and not svelte. I hope this will not be a flop !

I expect the new coupe will take a lot of styling cues from the sedan, increase in size in all dimensions versus the E92, be somewhat evolutionary and possibly sport yet another new interior.

Yes, he's referring to this car becoming the new 4 (4er) series.

To all the haters saying 'mustang' or 'too long', that is OBVIOUSLY a false rear window. They add camo every year, and this year their new sophisticated camo includes a false rear window. Look at the lines, it makes no sense that that is the correct rear window.
That being said, I agree. The E46 M3 was clearly the best looking M3 ever. |

Can we expect it to show up in some form or another on the show circuit in late 2014, after the cabrio launches? Or not until 2015?

Your 4 series language indicates (to me) BMW's internal direction w/ this chassis. And frankly I'm turned off, model expansion into confused GT versions and in all likelihood stretched versions for the Chinese has trumped performance and actual driving. I love my 1M because its description is the precise opposite of your 4 series. Please tell us performance drivers have something 'sports' 'performance' 'light' and 'aggressive' to look forward to. Perhaps an M2? |

Do you see this^ SCOTT..? People who buy Coupes, want them because the focus of the car is the driver & not neccesarily "other people's convienance & comfort". That sole mindset also means responsibility and logic of; less is more. People are not buying a coupe because they are worried about backseats and larger trunk. So why are the coupes longer & sleeker than sedans.? If anything, Coupes should have less overhang & be more compact and tight. (ie focused for sporting driving). Doesn't longer & sleeker translate into heavier too..? I think BMW really underestimates the buying knowledge of their base.

Larger front overhang is easily notable. Since the overall balance of the exterior design of E92 is outstanding, the newer version may not really stand out unless it comes with some design magic.
