It's the rear for me. Back end of an Audi A4, Jag xfr, benz s class, and even SUVs like ford edge, honda pilot have back ends that are inoffensive but they are sleek and easy to look at.

Everyone that's saying today's haters will like it in a few months, yes, it's the girl in the room effect. When you look at something for so long, you get used to it. Doesn't mean it was pretty to begin with. Why can't it be Audi sleek (their cars, not SUVs).

IMO people have the wrong opinion about this car. If the 5 series had come out after this car, people would be saying the same things about the 5 series. "Its just a larger 3." Give it two months and people will love the car. Just my .02

cant agree with you, when i saw the F10 the very 1st time my jaws dropped
not so much on the new 3
but like all cars, some nice mods and we'll all be happy

They're back in the "one sausage, three lengths" design mode. At least for US market cars available right now, I'd say Audi is the design lead dog. Most people consider the A5/S5 one of the best looking cars around (me included) and the new A7 is really striking - have seen a couple in person. But I don't think the F30 is unattractive and am anxiously looking forward to driving one.

Still interested to see what the A3 sedan will look like, but the F30 is definitely growing on me.

First impression:

This is an appliance, not a car. My opinion may change, and it could grow on me, especially once they introduce M pkgs and the like.

It seems like a real beigemobile on first inspection.

I agree 100%. This was the one area of contention in the past, which is why Bangle and his design team spiced things up (..and successfully so). I'm surprised that they are going back to this formula.

LoL really. I remember a while back in the A6/F10 comparison people whining about Audi models looking like Russian Dolls, guess we are no longer different from them. Didnt expect the new 3 to look soooo similar, specially from the back.

Also have seen an A7 and I think its an ugly copy of the 5 GT... A5 is sexxxxx

i dont have a problem w/ how the tail lights look. they went for the wide affect and it works. when the e92 came out they had the tail lights like this. when the 5 series was redone they also gave it taillights like this, and now it's passed on toe the 3series.

unfortunately i kind of liked the 5 series 'rays of sun' look of the tail lights... esp. when you hit the break pedal... but the outgoing 5 was a very edgy design of a car i thought, and they went very conservative w/ the current 5 quiet frankly so it has a closer relational look to this new f30 than the e90 did to the previous 5series.

the e46 to the e90 was a larger contrast in looks than the e90 is to this f30... so this lesser contrast in look also may make you feel the f30 looks boring.

when the e90 came out i had more nausea than this f30 gives me by far.

i felt the e90 w/ the useless chromed eyebrow on the kidney grill, and the square econocar looking rear lights (not my words but someone on the forum back 6yrs ago) wasn't working.

when the e90 got refreshed they tossed the brows and rectangled out those taillights a bit. both much needed improvements imho back then and thought that's how it should have looked when first released.... but u never know, the way those eyebrows looked tacked on, bmw could have put them there so as to remove it come midlife refresh. nobody was gonna not buy it the first 1-2yrs of the e90 release if they was gonna go for the new e90 anyway just bec. of some useless chrome trim.

just like the f30 w/ the strange connecting headlights into the kidneys could be removed come midlife refresh.

only thing they could have done as they were so concerned about making the f30 look WIDE on the back is, once again as started from the e90... the f30 also has rather nonexistent wheel wheel flares. if they'd been able to flare them out they could put wider tires, wider track, of course since the 90 they've shifted this look to only the M cars, big bummer.

Really not too fond of the 5/7 series look they are going towards for the 3's.

I think the perfect generation of the threes are the current.

Everyone knows how similar the e36 and e49 looked. Maybe it's just an "off" generation and the next 3er will be a revival of bangle.
