Is the 335 the top of the line next to the M3 for the F30 platform or was there talks about bmw coming out with a newer higher hp engine to slot between the 335 and M3?

It would suck if they did what they did with the E90 330 just to come out with the N54 a year later...

I checked the Autobild.de site and they state that the 325d (6-cylinder) will be replaced by the 323d (4 cylinder).
Besides that, everything remains the same (i.e. 316d, 318d, 320d, 330d, 335d).

Thanks for the news, can't wait too see some official pics. Is it worth to wait for the 335xi or is the 335i also good for winter? Here in Sweden, the winter is quite long.

Its wheelbase will grow a slight bit, as will some of its dimensions, but overall I would say that it's not going to be a significantly larger car. If it was, I think it would have been evident in this photo.

It was the same when the E90s were first introduced in 2005. The first models were the 325 and 330, which had the same engines as the E46 325 and 330, respectively. It wasn't until a year later that BMW replaced the E90 325 with the E90 328 and the E90 330 with the E90 335, the latter of which featured a brand new engine (N54) with more power than the previous generation.

I really hope history repeats.... I want to see a higher HP engine on the 2013 models.

Does anyone know if the new 3 (and 4) series will get dual clutch transmissions? I would really like to see a high quality tranny in there.

So what, initially the F30 will be about the same as the E90 but more fuel efficient until new engines are put in?

I guess 316-320 initially getting new engine .. a variation of 1,6 turbo. 32х will have n20 so... only I6 is relatively old.

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!

WTF Is this?

"the South African produced F30 328i (denoted by "SA") begins later, in February 2012."

Does this mean cars for that part of the world? US models should be made in Munich right?

Why do you need more hp for the cars? Wait for the M3 if you want more power .

Wrong. The E46 engines were different than the early E90's

2005 E46 was the M54 with either 184, 225 or 235 hp.

2006 E90 was the N52 with either 215 or 255hp.

DTM-R13: A large portion of the US market E90's are built in South Africa.
