I like the kidney grille development- they are similar to the original Vision Efficient Dynamics concept in the way you can see the 'thickness' from the side. Im also interested to see what is in the recess between the headlights and the kidneys too.

It does look like a baby 5 series, which in turn looks like a baby 7 series.

No M3 then?
If the discussion here is accurate the next 3 series, or what would be called the next 3 series, will have the coupe as 4 series.
If so then there will be no M3 coupe. It'll be an M4? if there were a next gen sedan it could be called an M3 but they killed the sedan M3 I thought. Anyone heard or seen any discussion on this issue? We've already seen spy shots etc of the next gen M3 so I'm not sure how that jibes with the whole 4 series discussion herein. |

Problem is everybody else is starting to do the same. So BMW with an appeal for a further visual edge and to identify itself from the competition adds an expanded shape which will be a signature look for some forthcoming BMW's. The typical BMW appearance has been imitated countless times by competitors and other manufacturers. It is only right that BMW seek a new interpretation that expands BMW's design identity as a leader not a follower. |

How is BMW goign to market all these "4ers" to the chineese market when the #4 is viewed in an ominous negative light in superstition? ~Frost

I like that the new coupe will be called a 4er. I love my e92 but always feel the need to say I have a coupe when someone asks what kind of BMW I have. Calling the new ones a 4 series eliminates that, and like Scott said, it signifies the slightly more premium feel.
My question is will price differential between a 3er and 4er be comparable to the price difference between a e90 and e92...i.e. a couple grand? If so, I'm on board when the lease on my e92 is up in spring of 2013 ![]()

Wonder when your future car will be manufactured?
I often like to see what I was doing when I update the BMW I have and find out the date when the updated car was manufactured. I often say "wow, this E90 I drive now was manufactured in September 2007, in which such and such happened..." Watching these advances on the new F30 I wonder what I will be doing when my future update for my nowadays E90 is being manufactured. What I do know is that when I update, I probably would not go for a 2012...the first year for a new "Entwicklung" always shows all the bugs for the new model. So maybe around 2015 I will be looking to update to a 2012 F30, LOL...
