service engine light on...? - BMW 3-Series Forum (F30 / F32)

Do anyone have an idea why I would get this light on after mid pipes and a full catback exhaust? It was fine for a week, even yesterday I drove like 1.5 hours to go down town, I parked the car fine last night then today morning as soon as I turned it on, I noticed running rough, the the service engine soon light came on, do you guys have an idea of wh...

I got this on a 335i 5 days ago! I turned in the car then it was shaking and went out to see around the car and I noticed that one of the pipes is letting smoke out but the other didn't work, after 15 seconds the other one "opened" and black smoke came out then it wasn't shaking anymore and the engine soon light went off. I don't know what's wrong but I will tomorrow coz I got an appointment with the dealer to look at it.

Was it with an after market exhaust? Cause if its the stock one, there is a regulator pluged to the exhaust and has a house which I didn't know what to do with and is just sitting there now, I looked at it and it sucks air so Idk if It's bad or what, should I cover the house? Is that the why of my problem? Idk

One more thing, I extended my warranty and I was wondering if I took it to check the check engine light, if the exhaust upgrade would void it... I only did from mid pipes down...

Maybe it threw off the post cat O2 sensor. That would be my guess. Get a diag tool to identify the fault code.
