That's why the NCAA is crap. They keep changing rules to whatever fits the situation.

Joking aside... I still call BS that they can't sell stuff they own, just because it's something they won. I guess those players that get free gifts from the bowls (sunglasses, Xbox, etc), and later decide to list them on eBay or craigslist are violating NCAAs crappy rules as well... maybe the NCAA should waste their money to investigate that too.

/pause rant
There may be a gray line there. If a player sells his room and board at the school that's an obvious violation. The game jersey was provided to the player by the university and is still the university property. They need to properly define when items given are on longer university property and personal property.
Again, Pryor, Posey, Adams, Herron...DUMBASSES! You must have not heard of the AJ Green situation on just 6 months ago for doing the same thing! Idiots, you let everyone down, GTFO!

Sigh......I think we need to get back to the old days of college football...our kids today are over-privileged and under-schooled and it leads to dumb mistakes.

I agree... they are definitely dumbasses. If it was university property, then it's definitely wrong. I think the issue is that NCAA rules aren't necessarily law, so whatever they sold may legally be their personal items, but since they are something they "won" they aren't allowed to sell it while in school (stupid rule).

Honestly, the NCAA has many rules like this which make no sense. First, if you enforce them, enforce them across the board. Second, if you find a rule that's BS or doesn't make sense in the modern time, then change it!

agreed! Some stuff you do can violate NCAA rules but is more than legal for any other person!

a perfect exerpt from a blogger on what eveyone feels at Ohio State:

That is, if they're back at all. Pryor has repeatedly insisted that he's coming back for his senior season, but he, Adams, Herron and Posey would all be taken at some point in April's NFL draft if they decided to enter. That's a considerably more attractive option with almost half of your senior season revoked than it would be otherwise.

If they do leave, their tenure will go down among the more disappointing 32-6, multi-championship runs in Big Ten history. Pryor and Co. arrived as one of the most-hyped crops of incoming freshmen in recent memory, and were perfectly positioned this year to make a run at the BCS championship as upperclassmen, coming off an impressive Rose Bowl win as sophomores. They came close, if not for a midseason meltdown at Wisconsin. Their senior season, 2011, is their last chance to fulfill that potential and overcome the "underachiever" label they inherited from the 2006-07 teams. What a waste it would be if they literally sold that opportunity away for a few bucks.

Yup, you can pretty much be guaranteed that they'll leave. And the NCAA really should have taken that into consideration, as now the '11 OSU remaining team gets penalized by losing players they may have had for some of the season, while the individuals simply go pro without having to miss the bowl game. Makes no sense to me. I bet those 5 assholes are laughing their asses off at the situation.... GG NCAA, way to suck.

MSU didn't show up. They've done that once before this season... sucks. At least Iowa played decently.

I'm not sure about that article either. I saw it (but don't have access), and thought WTF? Tressel's not leaving OSU... he's treated like God down there in Columbus.
