Exclamation World's first glimpse at 2012 F30 3-series interior

We bring you the world's first look at the next generation F30 3-series sedan's interior! The interior looks to be a big departure from the E90/E92 interior - the dash seems to be more driver-centric and also becomes less upright, with a very smoothly integrated screen unit. Overall the look reminds us more of the current 1-series than the newer BMWs (F10 5-series, F01 7-series), especially the trim area.

I agree. Would be VERY surprised if the new 3 series dash didn't look more like the current 5er/7er and lost that double hump look of the current 3er/1er. Makes no sense for them to continue the "bat cave" when the 5 screen looks so clean, especially if they're going to start putting that bigger screen in all models.

What is up with those HUGE vents? They look like they should be on an SUV? First HUGE sideview mirrors on the 2010-11's and now this.

I don't think this is the 1 series interior. The speedometer/tachometer silver frame seems to be a complete circle to include the bottom. The 1 series bottom of the the speedometer/tachometer silver frame is bottomed flat. I think you're looking at the new 3 series interior...

I saw it on some other testers and some of them say in German under them stuff like "DSC Emergency Shutoff." I wonder why...

You're right... also, why would they use the old 1-series interior on a new 3 series test car? Why not use the current 3-series interior. That said, I can't understand why they would go to that styling (if that is what they are doing in fact) over the trends seen in the new 5-series??? There are too many differences in that mule interior vs the 1-series dash shown...

This has really confused me.

I agree - the convexity of the curve on the vents is greater than that which I see in my 1 series every day. Also there is a good bit of space between those giant vents and the instrument cluster - the 1 series doesn't have space there to put an "eject" button! Maybe the space below the airvent is straight from a 1, but more likely just similar styling/layout.

Having both a 1 and a 3, I prefer the less-upright layout of the 1. Glad to see it is making its way into the new 3!

Wow, while I don't mind and actually prefer the current 1er dash to the current 3er dash (1er seems more e46 to me); I'm not sure that is the route BMW should take with the f3X...

I'm sure it will be great, whatever the outcome is.
