Well, as long as there is no "fee for that" as well...Since FaceTime seems to use SIP/STUN/etc standards, I'm sure it won't be long until someone comes up with a jb VoIP solution for free calling over data...

AT&T has replied on their Facebook page indicating that current customers may keep the $30/month unlimited plan even when they upgrade to a new iPhone And from AT&T's website: Existing AT&T smartphone customers upgrading to iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS are not required to switch to a new plan, but can choose to do so. |

the 4g will be using micro sim card? so the t-mobile & sprint sim cards won't fit in there right once an unlock is available?

For an extra $200 on top of the $199/$299. Unless you can find a calendar that puts next February into 2010, otherwise it looks like you're stuck waiting until Feb, 2011. I would guess it's just a marketing ploy to get more 4g models out there.

The Android mobile OS is actually really user friendly. I wouldn't compare it at all to getting used to a Linux-based desktop. The features are just as easy to get to and find on an Android smartphone as they are on the iPhone IMO.... Side note for myself which is also semi-pertinent: I've owned the 2G, 3G, 3GS, smartphones with WinMo 6.1 and 6.5, as well as the Android Eclair (2.0 and 2.1) and a BB 9000 and 9700. The similarity in ease of use between the Android and the iPhone OS's is shockingly close, while WinMo is just ridiculously behind. And RIM is... well... RIM. I'll leave it at that. |

^ I haven't had much seat time in the Droid. I played it with a little bit and my first impression was the OS wasn't as intuitive as an IPhone. My Linux comparison was more on the feature rich side of the equation not as much usability.
Could your typical mom figure out an Android vs. Iphone? Maybe you can answer that better since you have more experience with both. I've used some HTC Phones, all IPhones, and most BBs (work related).

New iphone looks sweet but the ATT network is crap. I'm never switching off of Verizon. Will probably order the HTC Incredible very soon....

The iPhone has its advantages over the Android OS in a few areas, most importantly the fact that everyone is already familiar with the interface to the iPhone from your laptop/desktop. There are programs you can use with Android that are just as easy and intuitive, but AFAIK, it's not just as easy as connecting the USB cord... and voila! This is one area I've been curious of, as the only Android OS's I've run are ported from an SD card, meaning the USB port was inaccessible, so interface to a PC while running the OS was impossible. I've been thinking of getting the N1 now that Froyo is out; that's how impressed I am with the Android system. Only problem with the N1 is it has max of 2 points of contact on the screen. That is one area where I'd have to say the iPhone has absolutely ruled.... The screen and how well it reacts to your touch prompts. Smooth as hell and no lag.... That's really the only thing I ever miss about my iPhones. Android's pretty close with the new Incredible screen though. It's got some new "max touch" feature which allows more than 2 points of contact and its response is pretty spiffy. WinMo and RIM aren't even worth mentioning in that area. Although RIM does make good purpose-based phones. I think WinMo (now Windows Phone) is the only one left out in the cold, not doing or offering a damn thing worth noting which others don't/barely do. |

2. AT&T Smartphone customers does not mean iPhone customers. If they meant iPhone, they'd have said iPhone. Stop arguing to argue.

Come on, have you noticed which forum we're on?
I've got every reason to believe that I can transfer my 3g iPhone unlimited data plans to new 4g iPhones. I live in Dallas, and have asked more than a few AT&T iPhone team members to ensure that this will be possible. So again, argue to argue if you want, but all of my signs point to this scenario being covered, and possible, but of course until the 24th (or a month later when the bill hits) I don't know that either of us can know this for certain. I also cut and pasted the second section above from a longer article, specifically related to iPhone unlimited data plans, so while it doesn't specify iPhone plans in the cut section, it is what the entire content was referencing. |

initially they'll allow the unlimited data to stay with the new phone....
guaranteed 6 months-1 year you won't be able to upgrade to the newest iphone and still have unlimited data.... they're going to phase it out like every other carrier has done over the years with their various promotions, etc |
