Does Obama's term so far feel like a publicity tour to anyone else?

I don't post in politics/religion so forgive me if this topic has been beat to death.

To me it just seems every time you turn around, he's throwing out this pitch here or on TV relaying news or possibly making an appearance at the world cup or being interviewed or idk, something. It may be the media's fault, but he seems to me far and away the most publicized and "visible" president (though I can only remember Clinton, Bush, and Obama)

I don't see how any of this is at all a good thing, even the questions he's gets, it all seems staged to me with a degree of fabrication, and nearly always leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. It's like he's a media darling for no reason...is it because he's half black? Cuz he's also half white...

I just don't get it. And no I'm not a republican, and I didn't support John McCain either. Just a thought that's been brewing in my mind lately.

I also think that it's because he's trying to push a lot of different things, on all fronts. It's ok, he's a multitasker. The previous president wasn't even a unitasker. (stolen from Maher)

True...still waiting for that good ole budged to be gone through "line by line" and all excess spending to be eliminated, which was one of the few things from his campaign I agreed with.

I see what you mean, but all Presidents do this. Like Negotiator said, he is trying to accomplish quite a lot of significant reforms simultaneously. I would think that a 'normal' presidency would count health care reform or financial system reform a huge victory - but those are just two things he's trying (one of which he has already) accomplished. Unfortunately for me, I disagree with most of both of those things - but that's a different story.

On a side note he has allowed significantly LESS access to the WH press corps, and has done far few formal press Q & A's than his last two predecessors.

I don't disagree with transparency criticism, I would prefer a much more open process at this point.

This is what I take issue with, it all seems propagandist to me, controlled, like this administration and (most) media are in bed together. It's well known he tries to avoid not having a teleprompter as much as possible...

Just seems counterintuitive to the checks media can provide in a given presidency and accomplished so well (whether wrong or right) during the Bush administration

I think much of this phenomenon stems from the fact that he entered his term as a "popular" president with a message of change. The media loved him. The people loved him. Many of the blind still love him.

Yeah I agree. There's a completely different attitude from the media now, versus the last Presidunce.

And again out comes a comparison with the past president in an attempt to shield the actions of the current president. When is Bush ever going to cease to be mentioned? Probably never, because he's the fall-back "funny man" when all of the idiots that voted for Obama solely because they were tired of the way Bush and "the Republicans as a whole" ran things have to defend their presidential vote from all of the Obama bullshit.

I just wanted to plug a joke, it wasn't fully relevant to the point that I made. When every week a new reform is being pushed, it will be on the front page.

Why in the world does this lady in Buffalo have to appologize for "flirting" with Obama?

So she said, “You’re a hottie with a smokin’ little body.” People are fucking pissed about this. Really?

U.S Marine 0311 Rifleman Infantrymen

I guard the white house and Marines are the only ones who are able to.
I always felt no respect towards him to our troops 89% of american troops don't want him. That should say something to all american's since we lay our lives down for 25k a year. It isn't about the money but since it is so low and we just low serving that should go far. He is a great actor I mean "god sakes learn how to salute". I'm the 18th person to volunteer in my family to serve for my country. After seeing this how he want to do this to DISABLED VETERANS. He digusts me "good morning mr.president I can't salute at this time". Where's your birth certificate? Ooops forgot that one. Obama Osama idk to close to me. I dont like that.

http://washingtonindependent.com/333...ir-health-care

Being a marine who was in haiti to help the people after the earth quake. Who would help us noone but we got to go to everyone elses aid. We helped france and look what they did in 2002 when we were first in afghanistan they were aiding the taliban with night vision googles.

I was also in kabul afghanistan combat tour
24th m.e.u
Iraq tikrit combat tour

I've been all around everyone is so quick to talk about us but yet military wise no country has done as much as us, somalia we went to help.

I can't tell you how many iraqi little girls were getting raped tormented by their family not clothed but the parents were.

I can't tell you how many little girls i gave food to my own food. I should say **** them i shouyld save my own butt but I'm good we all are.

know bagdad is a free bagdad markets opened. Business's etc. Now they are semi normal.

I've sacraficed alot enough, more than any civilian for the American people.

For our freedom but it isn't free many of my buddy's died K.I.A rest in peace brother's.

how could dirt*** like himself even thin kof doing this. I want him to go up to a marine in a wheel chair who lost his legs due to a coward who shoots off IED's instead of facing us like a man and say that to that porr marines face.

This country needs to do alot of soul searching cause our moral is going down for many reasons I'm not even going to state.

Dude all great points, I agree with all of them. But don't say things like the above. People will jump on that and throw away the rest of your great points because of it. They will lump you in with the "crazy right". You don't want that, it negates your everything else.

Your right man. After seeing things in my perspective, first hand there's almost like no "buttering it up" you know what i mean. I'm just saying man, this is the only country where people take their freedom of speech and just like bash their own military. Look at what this country is doing to our Navy Seal's highly trained men, you people have no idea what you have to go through to earn that title and how intelligent you have to be. We are putting our Navy Seal's up for trial because a number #9 wanted terrorist in the department of defense felt like he was handled roughly when arrested. Please what is wrong with us this country this is WHAT I SIGNED UP FOR FOR ME US TO GET PROSECUTED FOR PROTECTING MY OWN PEOPLE I GUESS OUR NAVY SEALS ARE supposed to give that terrorist a big wet kiss on the cheek hey good job man keep killing our fine young men and women. Now put me in jail for arresting you. This country was at it's strongest and best during WW2 American's are not made that way anymore....work ethic, everyday communicating with people, professionalism, real MEN,real women, just good american's.

prove me wrong.

No morale no country.

This is article is old as hell, and has been proven wrong. Veterans are exempt from having to purchase private insurance because of the healthcare bill.

And noone cares how you feel about your President. If your contempt interferes with your job, resign.

Devil Dog--

A favor you could do yourself, as well as the rest of us who have served or are serving, is to use tact when discussing such issues. Also, it wouldn't hurt to put a rational spin on your argument. You've completely discredited yourself and undermined your argument by presenting it in a completely irrational, emotional manner. Remember, the image you portray reflects on the rest of the Marines and servicemen as well.

I understand exactly what you're saying, but you're going about it the wrong way. Your opinion and arguments will never hold water if they aren't conveyed in the proper manner.

That being said, thanks for your service.

Err-rah, Semper Fi, yut, all that....

Of course it is a publicity tour. He has no experience governing anything. He has failed to impliment or out-right lied about most of his campaign promises and the country is suffering in almost every major sector. Obama has NOTHING else except to try to be gregarious and like-able. His BS got him elected and now he is trying to hang on

Respect. That Navy Seal was extremely justified and I would have done the same myself.

Thats what you get for throwing in some half wit law school graduate with no real permanent job or military experience as president.

He's pretty much been doing most things that he says that he'd do...people say that he's been lying about everything that he has been doing because they didn't pay attention to nearly any of the shit he was talking about during his campaign except for healthcare and trying to get out of Iraq. I can't tell you how many people I know were all infuriated that he wants to go into Afghanistan, saying that he never said that. He totally did.
