Electronic Shifter for the F30? - BMW 3-Series Forum (F30 / F32)

Hey guys, do any of you think the electronic shifter like the one found in the 5 series and the X5 will make it onto the F30 since now almost most of the newer models are using it?

I wonder if bmw even knows which shifter will be put on the new zf 8 speed trans but I guess the trans itself doesnt make a differnce. I bet it will be the same one on the 5.

If I'm not mistaken they already use this shifter in the 3-series overseas. I'm pretty sure the F30 will get it.

yeah.. DCT for non Ms like the Z4 has here in the States

Creepy...every time I see that images I have flashbacks of the car moving backwards as I am stepping out of car.

technology is a bitch. nothing can replace a handbrake pulled up and leaving it in 1st.

My 2010 335d automatic (not DCT) has the standard shifter whereas my wifes 2008 X5 has the electronic one.

The strange thing is the car selects park as soon as you turn the engine off and the only way to get it back into neutral, is to restart the thing, which is a pain, if like me you just want to roll it back a few feet sometimes.

Im pretty sure you can push the start button without pressing the brake and then shift the car into neutral without turning the engine on.

Yes. Sexy. 335is in the states is what we get this year.

I like the electronic shifter.

My question is - will BMW ditch the manual handbrake for the 3 series? I'm not sure how that would go over...

Electronic Handbrake = nasty imo.
