If this NY Times story about McCain's blonde lobbyist turns out to be describing a true affair, then I wouldn't be so certain how much it would hurt him. Many of us already knew he was a playboy even while married after returning from captivity. This is not a big surprise except that he may have more energy left in him than his years would indicate. Until the preponderence of evidence is that this would affect his performance in the White House, I don't know that it would be considered a campaign killer. Since both McCain and the lady deny the allegations, it may be difficult to make much of it. Although the news media does tend to beat a drum until it breaks. If this benefits his opponent for the nomination, then so be it. It really isn't much different than what we already knew of his character. Adultery and how he came to acquiring his third wife has already been a reason to object to him on moral grounds. This just places an exclamation mark on it for all to see since the news is rather current, rather than dredged up.

Huckabee!!....so you want a preacher in the oval office?? Lost me right there dude...
...Any and every situation (poor, rich, single mother, being a great dad, muslim school, public school, drug use caused by self-doubt, ivy league, living abroad, community activism, multi-racial parents, etc) Obama has lived and transcended. He is every man and womans candidate...and that is soooo plain to see. And that is why he is winning. No smoke and mirrors...he is the real deal and you know it. |

Yes, but will there be "Straight Talk" or "Double Talk"?

If the results had gone the other way, I suppose you would have been claiming a rigged test. It could be just as easily said by those who would like to convict Obama in the court of public opinion that the "ex-porn site" would be predisposed toward promoting an Obama candidacy. I would accept the results at face value. I didn't believe the accuser in the first place, but it was potentially a very big story if the guy had passed the polygraph. It illustrates that you can't believe accusers without sufficient evidence. Many accusations should not be ignored, either. The initial results are in: Dr. Ed Gelb, Former President of the American Polygraph Association was the Polygraph expert selected by Whitehouse.com. He has done over 30,000 polygraph examinations over his long career. There were two polygraph tests administered by Dr. Gelb on Friday. the first polygraph asked Mr. Sinclair on his sex claims. The second polygraph test asked Mr. Sinclair on the drug use claims. There was deception indicated in both tests... Last edited by scottwww; 02-24-2008 at 10:22 PM. |

True, I suppose. I just can't figure the whole thing out. As far as I can tell the site is under the same old management. They don't cover any news. They seem to have dedicated it completely to this story, and I'm not sure what their motivation is.
You must admit, given the site's background, any information from there would be immediately suspect. Edit: Wikipedia page on the history of the website. I would call it a dubious source of information at best, and I'm honestly not even sure that they ever polygraphed anyone: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitehouse.com |

In November, if it's Barak Obama headlining the ticket for the Democrats, just write in "present" for your vote.
It's a good way to object to provisions in the election that you might otherwise support. Go Hillary! |

From your post I can't tell if you are a Republican (as you indicated) or just wanted to push for a response. Either way, I'll give you a response. There are good arguments on both sides for which Democrat would more easily be beaten in the general election by John McCain. I loathe Hillary Rodham Clinton. Of anyone who could be in the Oval Office, she is the one I would dread. I would have to avoid the news. I would have to avoid the radio. I would have to avoid anything that was likely to have her voice harassing the public. Hillary Clinton has the highest negatives of anyone who was in the race for the nomination whether we are talking about the Republicans or the Democrats. This would indicate significant weakness. There are many people in the Democrats who have come to despise Hillary and love Obama. There are many who idolize Obama. He can speak pretty well. He would be more difficult to attack without public outcry about attacking him because he is a minority. This is not so for Hillary. She is not a minority, and may not even be considered a woman. Having said that, Obama is extremely weak on experience. However, the electorate (at least in the Democrats) are largely dismissing that as a handicap. Many would say his race will work against him (though I think he gains as much from some voters as he loses from others). Obama has been largely untested. The Clinton machine hardly attacked him. Nobody really knows what kind of metal he is made of. Uncertainty is risky for both sides. These notes are just a few random thoughts on the subject. Talking to a Republican, it is difficult to know who would be the weaker opponent. I know how I would attack Hillary. I don't know very well how I would attack Obama. The Obamamania resembles a hypnotic frenzy. When I hear him speak, I don't see why they swoon. He seems rather boring. But some people are out of their heads for the guy. Maybe they pass out hallucinogens at the door. Nobody is like that about Clinton. On the debate stage, though McCain would have the upper hand on the issues, delivery counts as much as substance in our pop media centric culture. Though I don't despise Obama as I do Hillary, his extreme lack of experience and uncertainty about how the Republican might fare against him makes me nervous for the future of this great country. If Obama were in the White House, we could survive, or we could die a horrible death. With Hillary, we would survive, though it would be very ugly. I'd rather minimize the risk the nation would sustain in a Republican loss. However, I am torn between killing the witch now to make sure it is a done deal, or having to kill the witch later. But the choice is for them who are voting in the Democrat primaries. I would love to see the Democrat race go all the way to the convention. I would love to see Hillary win it based on the Superdelegates. That would be delicious to see the Democrats eat their own in the aftermath. BTW: Chances are that I will not be voting for a Republican presidential candidate this year. That chance is equal to the chance that Governor Huckabee will not be on the ballot. It seems the Republican party has lost it's identity and I likely will be supporting the Constitution Party. Though I have been a Republican since about 1982, that is ending soon. Who do you think would be more likely to win in a race against McCain? |

hillary simply can not beat mccain. latinos like him which are her biggest strong hold. old people like him which are her second largest supporting demographic. i am about 99% certain that Obama will be our next president... and i will most likely vote for him. the only kink depends on how many votes, depending on how active he is, nader can steal... but i don't think the margin between mccain/obama is small enough for nader to make a difference. mccain and hillary and nader, mccain will win, no questions asked.
