I have a rattle coming from mine as well. Under 2000 miles. noticed it right away. Dealer took a look, found something that wasn't removed during the car's prep. Didn't solve it. took it back. They took apart parts of the dash and could replicate it coming from around the driver air vent. The insulated the area, and the noise resolved for awhile. I'm noticing some return of it, but not as loud, over the past couple weeks. To me, it sounded like it was coming from the steering column somewhere, but they isolated it to the driver air vent.

Well CIC looked fine, but I finally was able to reproduce it.

Apparently the metal ring around the cup holder, once the rubber holder gets warm, starts chirping...

The WHOLE part is $402, though, and my dealership is losing patience with ordering parts and replacing them under warranty, so they'll do it this one last time...

I found the chirp one day with the water bottle in, when I pulled it out (at stop), it chirped...and so I went back, and started pushing the metal ring against the rubber, and it kept on squeaking and chirping...

Just wanted to update the group, the part's coming in a few weeks, so I'm toughing it out...at least I can push down on the area and quell the noise. I've heard the SAME noise in a lot of loaner cars, so it's not just me.

The noise I have is similar to yours but it's not coming from the cup holder area, it's more between the stereo HU and the glove box.
And it's louder in the morning or in cold weather.

I'll check the cup holder though.
Thanks.

Crap, maybe that's where it's coming from too....?

It's such a hit or miss with these cars, narrowing down the annoying noises...I'll update once the part comes in.

Indeed.

It is particularly frustrating when all other cars I have owned, non-BMW, have never rattled, buzzed or squeaked.

Has you M Perf suspension made the noises worse?

Intermittent crap sucks.
The clunk in my steering is easy to feel when it's cold. All winter it was there.
Now that it's warm it's barely noticeable as it not there.
It'll be really tough to get the tech's to take it seriously as I'm sure they won't feel it as it's going to be warmer this week, heck I can't even feel it now.
This sucks. causer I know it didn't fix itself.

Same here...Acura's, Mitsubishi, etc...NO rattles. And the BMW is the most expensive of them all...

Ironically,no. Same issue from the get go....

Rest of the car is solid except for this one minor gripe....

Took my car in the other day.
The rattle was one of the things looked at.
Tech said he found some fasteners that seemed loose, so he tightened them up. No good. Picked my car up and the rattle was still there.
While driving I opened the glove box and then held the lid tightly with my right hand and rattle was lessened. I pushed a bit on the lid up and down and left right, shut the lid and the sound was almost not there.
Weird.
I'm done with trying to find it.
Turned up the audio.

BTW, the tech came on a drive with me so that I could show him my concern about my sport AT shifting abruptly in manual mode.
He tried to explain that the AT in the 328 and 335i were different, and that one of them is a DCT. NO, they are not, I explained.
I told him that both F30 versions come with the new torque converter
ZF 8spd, and that there are two versions, standard AT and sport AT.
He looked confused.
I knew he's find nothing wrong, and sure enough my receipt said all was "normal" with the trans.
Of course it's normal. Why wouldn't I believe someone who doesn't even know the technology he's working on.
Oh, and I was told he is one of their "Top techs". Okaaaay.
Not confidence inspiring.

They gave me a new X1 28i with the standard ZF 8spd. Auto mode was just as smooth as mine, but manual and sport mode were clearly MUCH smoother than my sport AT.
"Normal" means, it's working, and I don't want to take the time to look into it and drive other 335i's with AT to confirm. Have a nice day."
