I know prices vary from country to country, but don't forget to factor in currency exchange costs. It closes the gap, but there are still some countries that are way more expensive than the US or Europe for that matter.

80K $ equals to 60k euros so the price is higher but not so much, i wonder how people can afford a car in Egypt or Malaysia if the base price is 100k

Australian prices are a rot, we pay to much in made up taxes, not BMW's fault.

But as long as we have cheaper cars, gas, flat screen TVs, and bulk food people are happy (the important stuff requires too much thinking and is too depressing for 99% of the population, so ignorance and denial are bliss.)

Sorry, but this "you in the US are so lucky to pay less for cars" gets to me because it's so ignorant of the bigger picture of the reality of life in the US. We may have cheaper cars, but we pay dearly in other areas. There are good reasons for the lack of immigration to the US from other developed countries over the last 20-30 years.
You're right, I'd probably pay 90.000 Eur for a 428i rather than paying 35.000 USD to 3 nights stay in a hospital in US. By the way, we are paying around 1000 dollars for the annual "full" insurance for a car like 428i here, what is your monthly insurance fee in US for a car like this

Wow, didn't intend to kick up such a stink / discussion. My point was that the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

I'm fully aware that, while the price of cars, houses, insurance, electronics, white goods, furniture, books, DVD's (pause for a breath) are attractive in the good ol' US of A, there are also good reasons to NOT contemplate living there. Just as us Aussies, on our $150K+ base per year salaries, with 10% income tax rate, 2% Goods and Services Tax etc think we're the lucky country. Yes, that was a joke.

The taxes on my car were: $12,224.07 Luxury Car Tax, $7,335.38 Stamp Duty and then, to finish it all off $9,079.99 Goods and Services Tax. That's $28,639.44 in direct taxes.

But, that said, I can afford it, so I did

About $1300/yr if you got good driving record and don't leave in Manhattan, NY. Also most folks got health insurance and don't have to pay $35K for three nights in the hospital, so it's not really all that bad...

Most people have health insurance which is tied to their employment. If they get seriously sick, they lose their job and their somewhat affordable employer-provided health insurance. Things get really scary after that leading to many bankruptcies.

Hopefully, "Obamacare" will help with all this, but the devil is in the details, and it's really complex and varies from state to state because some states refuse to take the money to implement Medicaid expansion, so you can still fall in the cracks and be in big trouble if you get seriously sick and live in those states.

Anyway, this isn't really a topic for these forums... Just illustrating that focusing on the price of consumer goods like cars misses the bigger picture which is quite a mess in the US.

Try buying a f30 or f35 in China. That's a M3 price in US

Steta da je tako jer Srbija je prelepa uvek bila i bice. Mama mi je bila borac i dovela me ovamo i za to sam zahvalan svaki dan. A Srbija mi stalno nedostaje.

Ako smem da pitam gde putujes? Ja kao i ostali imam familje svugde po evropi, najvise po Svajcarskoj. Sa srecom. Ziv bio.
