Audi TTS

Anyone know anything about these cars? I am thinking about one for the wife. We go autocrossing and I like that it is AWD and DCT. I know the TTS has like 275hp and GIAC offers a tune for it. I really like the TTRS but manual only is a no go for her. They look nice and the interiors look good. Any tips?

i love the new a7/s7/rs7. The TT is nice but inside feels too little and uncomfortable to me. I know a lot of people who love it though. the dsg is one of the best in bizness.

I've heard the same about the DSG, supposed to be really good. I'm gonna go drive one next week, on paper it doesn't seem much smaller than the 1, but I'll have to see to believe.

TTS is a fun car; with a downpipe and tune they'll run mid 12s on street tires. I had a 2.0T tt before my S4 and there is something to be said for light weight tossable cars.

One note is they still use a Gen1 2.0T with a k04 turbo which debuted in mid 2000s and there are a few reliability issues with those around the cam follower. The Gen3 2.0T(there was no gen2 with a k04) will be debuting in the next few months in the new A3 sedan and GTI.

Garage List
2010 135i Coupe  [4.50]
Trust me, it's smaller than a 1er. The 135i rear seat actually fits two adults sitting up. The TT rear seat has almost no headroom due to the shape of the roof line.

It is smaller than the 1 series, but Audi used the limited space quite effectively. My brother has a TTRS and it is a really nice car. The interior feels nicer than my 1M and I think the seats are better, offering a more bolstered feel (not sure if the TTS gets the same seats). The back seat is really laughable though, it would have been much more usable for luggage etc. if it wasn't even there. I guess if you have small children you could use it. I have been in the back seat and for anything longer than 10 min it is unbearable for an adult. With the rear seats folded down it can fit almost as much crap as my 1M.

I enjoyed the 2.0t in my '06 GLI. With a giac tune I was close to 250 hp and ~300 ft/lbs of torque. The TTS uses a larger turbo as well so I would imagine the output could be over 300 with a similar tune. Giac was great, car felt stock until I got into the boost where there was just more power. It also pulled longer instead of dying off pretty abruptly. I have heard good things about the DSG, supposed to be a great transmission.

Nicely tuneable engine, around flywheel 360bhp after FBO, fuel pump and tune but jeffc is correct regarding the cam follower issue on the 2.0T (k03 & k04). I believe it's one of those issues that can be fixed when it goes wrong but over time will reoccur even wth the new parts.

Nice car for girls. IS-F would be another good choice.

im not too fond of this car... with that money, id get something else! buy something that you can also drive. this is too much of a girl's car!

it's too small, but i guess it can be fun to drive? also you should take in consideration that the TT typ 8j is being remodeled soon. personally, i would not buy a car that's getting remodeled soon!

I agree, so what's similar size, 4 seats, and a DCT?

From the drive I've had of a TTS with DSG, autocrossing is the last thing I'd want to do with it.......

Dead steering and understeer........

Cool car OP. I like the small size of these cars. I rented one of these a couple months ago (weird choice for a rent car, i know.) It handles decently for what it is and the performance is good.

The TTRS though would be freaking awesome if you could teach your wife how to drive a MT. The 5 cylinder in those cars is a beast of motor.
