So im kind of needing a truck to compliment my bmw and haul around a trailer with my bike and whatnot(light stuff)..alright well maybe more of a want then need. But iam in the market for a truck, i dont really want anything that breaks the bank on gas or is diesel etc just something to haul light loads and with good space.

We have a 2011 f-150 ecoboost with about 48k on the clock and it is a four-wheel-drive Platinum SuperCrew with a 6.5-foot bed at my job(an automall) and we have it listed for $33,731, however they will work out a deal for me where i get it for $28,660 out the door ive already got a hold on it so im in the edge of buying it or backing out.

My question is..does anyone here have a similar truck and how are these? hows the whole v6 twin turbo eco boost engine? doesn anyone have any first hand eperience with these? and is 28 and change a decent deal?

Yes, 28k for a truck that usually list for 50k is pretty good. Just make sure and look at it good, no mechanical problems. Its still a fairly new engine, so theres no telling in what could go wrong.

Ford has come a long way though, they are making much better vehicles than they were. My dads F150(5.0, not ecoboost) is a great truck, he hasnt had any problems and hes had it for almost a year now.

I do think a lightly used Tacoma can do most of that stuff with greater efficiency and reliability. Just a thought...

I work for the executive center..i do marketing and public relations and i have been here 8 months none of which ive dealt directly with sales. We dont have a ford outlet we got this on a trade in. Yea i can ask a tech who has not previous experience with it nor first hand input on a truck manufactured 2011 hence i asked for people who may own or have first hand experience with one.

Yea i have a clue on what the value of it is i never said i didnt, but book value and street value now a days factoring in the economy are two very different things. The trucks MSRP is like 48k but considering it has almost 50k it is a 2011 and it has some extras iam not sure of the value.

I believe it is still under warranty, but i would still like to know with someone who has 1st hand experience about the trucks reliability and depreciation value considering the truck and platform are still fairly new to the market.

i had one at one point, a tacoma pre runner with a 4cyl engine and let me tell you they dont hold that great even with only a trailer and a bike(sometimes two) and i would like more then just a beater, yes it would be mainly to haul light shit but i would also like something nice enough to drive instead of my e92 sometimes and to make a trip here and there.

plus in the future it would be nice to add a boat to the list of toys

i love toyota and nissan trucks tacomas, titans etc. But i would like something newer and i dont want to have to finance. For a newer titan or tacoma im looking at 30k plus with little to no options unfortunately

My truck gets better gas mileage than my BMW. I love it. It's got more towing power than the V8 as well (not the Raptor one though). The one you posted is a super nice one, and at that price is worth it. These trucks, if taken care of properly, will go 200k miles or more.

FYI I bought my Titan new in 2010, Pro4x, All options but nav (leather, pdc, bluetooth, sirius, bedliner, tow pkg, etc) for $31000 out the door. Sticker was over $41,000. These deals still exist.

The truck is still worth $26,000 today with 28,000 miles on it. People talk the Titan down because its outdated, but if I sold it today, it would have cost me more to lease a Honda Civic. Best value out there IMO.

You have to finance the $28k Ford right, why is it any different buying a $30k Tacoma or Titan?

No im not financing the 28k thats a cash price, im sure those deals do exist i just havent come across any of them on here, i would essentially be getting the truck at trade in value since i work here they would give me a hand, thats with an extended warranty as well. I dont talk the titan down like i said i like them i like import trucks more then i do SOME domestic however, if i look at a 2011 Titan, Tundra, Tacoma etc with the same options iam looking at 30k plus out the door and then to that i have to add the warranty and my top budget is 28k.

Not to mention the extras that the truck has including brand new tires, breaks and rotors, navigation, jbl sound etc.

Thanks man this is the answer i was looking for, im sure there are alot of better and more expensive trucks out there as well as more expensive and shittie.

I just wanted to know the specific value of this one as i rarely come across them, ideally i would love to have a raptor..but realistically they're out of my price range and im not financing another car until my home purchase falls thru.

That's an FX4 instead of a platinum. 1 of the pictures makes it look like it needs tires and all the stupid chrome will hurt resale. You are buying it for less then average wholesale (28300). Factory warranty is still remaining, you just never know how hard the previous owner beat up on the turbos.
My advice would be to take it to a reputable mechanic or ford dealer for a pre-purchase inspection.

Honestly I would go with a new truck, maybe try to find a new 2012 that a dealer is willing to deal on. I know looks are a personal decision but I think the lift with those big wheels and the silly grill look pretty stupid.

While I appreciate the ecoboost engine, I don't see why anyone would pay a premium for it. It gets ~1 or 2 mpg better, not worth the premium IMO. The new 5.0 coyote engine is really a great engine. Gets decent gas mileage for a stout v8.

I just test drove both an ecoboost and the 5.0 coyote engine in an F150 supercrew, 6.5 bed length.
I loved the linear power of the 5.0 and sound from the V8 but, if you go by the F150 brochure or online, the towing capacity with 5.0 drops down to 7500 lbs. With the Ecoboost, 9500. I will most likely go with the ecoboost due to that.
Reliability of the 5.0 should be higher than a twin turbo'd V6 I suspect.

This just isn't true. My EcoBoost has 20 MPG average right now on the screen (that's city and highway driving). If I drive conservatively and carefully, it gets more like 22-23. If I go reset it before a long highway trip and drive conservatively, it's mid to high 20's...

My friend has the V8 and he's lucky if he gets 15, driving extremely conservatively.

Have a good friend who has the first year eco boost F150, no problems with the motor at all, has 52K on the clock lots of long trips towing. Only problem to date was a tranny replaced under warranty at 27K. Most likely a bad one since he's had no problems since. Like another poster said that looks like an FX4, lots of extras. I personally do not like the chrome but thats me and that can be changed. Have you looked at what you can get a V6 Frontier for, they're very inexpensive for some reason.

It's an amazing truck if you leave it stock. However, once you start delving into tuning (even just a reflash) the truck loses its pizzazz and the turbos sound really weak and annoying.
