I picked up my 335 in September and had the squeal from day one. It only happens when backing up at very low speed. I finally took it in for service over Christmas and they said they couldn't reproduce it. WTF? I can reproduce it 100% of the time. But they said they de-glazed the brakes and it did fix the problem......for about one week. Should I just keep taking it in for the "temporary" fix? BTW, I have about 5k miles so far.
Also took it in for the whistling noise around 60 MPH, but again, they said it was normal. So far I'm not too impressed with Kuni in Portland. |

They took them to the dealer multiple times and same responses like everyone else, cleaned them, etc. Problem went away for a while and it's back. Funny thing is I have an 2011 e92 and never had the problem. Might be something to do with the sedan. Was thinking about picking up an F30 when my lease is up but don't know about that now with this info.

The point is a brand new car imho shouldn't sound like a 20yr old buick especially if people are paying 40k+. If the fix was simply changing the brakes why hasn't BMW done that themselves from the factory? My point and what seems like the point some others are making is it SEEMS to be a defect from the manufacturer. Going back to your house analogy, I'm sure you and I both highly doubt that's the reason she didn't buy your house. Now if painting the walls and then all of sudden they changed back to the color you painted them overnight every time, then I might not buy the house haha ![]()

I've had my 2013 335i xDrive M Sport just a couple of days and it has been doing it non-stop. My wife was 2 cars ahead of me in traffic and she could hear it. Taking it to the dealership on Wednesday for Service. Also have noticed what appears to be leaking brake fluid from the driver side rear caliper and leaking onto the rim. Took a picture of it tonight to show the dealer.

Brakes, common. And I bet you'll hear the squeal again. It may subside after a while, but your new rotors will likely glaze and the squeal will return. Dash is out, means what? No lights, no gauges? Surely they can check that and fix it. Change the whole cluster or check the fusebox? |

Why buyback talk? VA has one of the strongest lemon laws in the country...In VA, 3 visits for same problem within first 18 months can put car under the lemon law...I think the BMW dealers here are more aggressive with buy back to avoid lawsuits...just my opinion...but already 3 visits for the brakes and now 3 visits for the dash...guess we'll see... |

Most lemon laws are specific to vehicles failures that affect drive-ability, safety or problems that would severely impact resale value. At least that's the way FL would typically look at it and FL has a fairly tight Lemon Law. Does VA specify annoyances or noises under their Lemon law? Or is the angle that these squeals could affect resale value or safety? |

Cluster going out while driving...definitely a safety issue...No speedometer, warning lights, etc...I would agree squeaky brakes do not fall into this category...However reading the lemon law statute in VA in does not appear to specify drive ability, safety, etc... |

1800 miles, drove the car a bit this Sunday, no squealing. Will see if it comes back. The solution might really be to drive the car hard. Thats what I have been doing since break in. Take it to a road with traffic lights or a winding road, accerate fast to the speed limit or just 10mph over, if needed hit brakes a little harder than usual making sure there is no one tailgating you when you do that. This way you get no traffic tickets while you enjoy your new car.

Got car back from dealer and still squealing. They said it is common with high performance brakes and the stock brakes on the M Sport are Brembo. I've got Brembo on my Viper SRT-10 and they don't do that. Going back to dealer next week.

I picked my 335 M Sport up essentially right off the truck - had 10.1 miles on it. Has squeaked since the day I drove it off the lot. It has 400 miles on it now, and is currently in the show for the PPK install, and the brake squeak.
I will get it back on Thursday - hopefully will be sorted out by then. |

I have had my 335i m-sport since December and the brakes squealed for a couple of months (and were much worse about it when it was cold) but they stopped and have not done it since.
I never did anything to address it, they just stopped doing it after maybe 1500 miles or so. |

My March build M sport 335i squeals but it's not too bad.
My buddy, who is big into P cars summed it up this way when he heard my breaks: "To the untrained ear that squeal makes it sound like something is wrong, but to those that are in the know that squeal equates to performance oriented brakes." He said his 911 brakes squeak too. I've never had Brembos before or really any hi-perf brake setup so I can't say with 100% certainty that it is normal or not. I've driven several very high performance vehicles at various events and track days but I've never noticed a squeal but then again I am always so caught up in the moment I'm not really listening that close. Further, I've never driven said hi-perf vehicles day after day and I think that is when you really notice it. my 335i does it only maybe 25% of the stops. |
