I have a Sony android tablet and and android HTC phone. Man, android sucks. The apple software is perfect and the quality is perfect as compared to the android products. I ordered 2 iPad mini for me and my wife. It's perfect size, manufacturing, software. I will never leave apple to any other product because I did with laptops and phones and I regret it so badly. The reliability of the apple products makes it the perfect product to buy. I know it's pricy but it's worth every penny.

you think the Android software is that much worse than Apple??
don't you like being able to customize things as much as you want with the Android, which you can't do with Apple

The tablet has changed the way i travel.

It does 95% of what I want from a pc, with a smaller form factor.

movies from AVI/MKV/DIVX from 3rd party software on the app store
browsing
flash browsing for TV/sports on the go with 3rd party browser ( i dont play flash games)
slingbox
face time with the family
map with free GPS (better when it was google maps)
8-10 hour battery life

and cellular activity whe im not at home.

fk

id rather use a smart phone and a full size ipad. but if u use to for travel id get the mini with cellular

Being without power for a week after Sandy rolled through, the most impressive piece of kit I had turned out to be the iPad. It simply lasted forever and with the LTE it was lightning fast. Really an amazing device.

that looks pretty sweet... I would have loved for it to be plugged in so you dont run out of power on long trips... and how does it connect via bluetooth if you take the head-unit out?

I have an iPad 3 and it's perfect if your a college student. You can torrent a lot of books these days and put them on your iPad and that definitely saves the weight/price of textbooks. It's super convenient and I'm definitely glad I got mine..I have about 7 textbooks on there.

somewhat related: i checked out a chromebook recently, it's pretty weak. $250 it basically only runs chrome. it can't do anything unless you're online. a real laptop's only a little more, a tablet's more portable and costs about the same. it could be usable if it was $100-$150

still pretty impressed with my dual-atom netbook. was less than $400 (almost 2 yrs ago) with a ram upgrade and travel bag, and it's still a real computer (with a full windows7 running). i'd still buy a netbook over a tablet.

I just got the iPad Mini on a trip to Japan (30% cheaper there compared to Sweden). I honestly think it is a great tool for a "globetrotter" or someone on the move around a lot. I use quite a lot for browsing, social media, video, emails and iMessage. Mostly on the move. I'm thinking about a good way to mount it in the car but not sure for what, not really using it in the car but charging would be nice.

But then again I work in IT and use many different products in my daily life. Big stationary at home for more demanding tasks such as file storage, graphics and serving my home media, Media PC in living room, MacBook Pro 15" for work, iPad 2 at home for email and "TV" (too big to carry everywhere for me), iPhone 4 & 5 on the go and now complimented by the iPad mini. I am honestly using all of them to justify the purchases (one iphone and Macbook from work) but then again I see how many others do not see the use, it depends on how you live you life I guess. The more you have used iPhones in the past (or Androids if you like that OS better) the the faster you will find use of the iPads (tabs). My GF didn't see what we needed the iPad for with 3 computers in the house but as she was a iPhone junkie she quickly took liking to "the bigger iPhone" and now has it in her lap for a couple of hours a evening (one more reason I "needed" another pad).

Too small for me. We have a wifi samsung galaxy 10.1 and the ipad 4 w/lte. I keep the Samsung at work and I mostly use it for browsing and streaming from Netflix or cokeandpopcorn. My girlfriend uses the ipad 4 all the time, its pretty sweet. We often take a lot of pictures and we have a camera with wifi so we can transfer pics to it without cables and edit them on the ipad etc.

got one for my 4 year old, and he loves it. Probably too much because she wakes up and she goes to bed with it.

Overpriced and unimpressive specs. apple needs to innovate again (see stock price) iOS has gotten boring. Honestly, I'm going to get the HP slate 7 for $169 and it runsAndroid 4.1. Sure, specs aren't impressive, but it looks solid and will do the job. For $169, I'll keep it in the bathroom at all times.

$329 is insane for what the iPad mini does. Kindle fire, nexus 7, slate 7, and others are just as capable for cheaper.

I would say it all about content today. Looking at the hardware spec is living in the past if you ask me. Then again I agree it is priced high as most Apple products are but it has nothing to do with the hardware spec. Apples problem are too few variations in the product line, good work differentiating iPads with two sizes. They need to do similar with phones IMO..

why would you get a slate? Pay $30 more for a nexus 7
