The most unstereotypical 458 Italia owner.

Didn't get pics of the guy, just his car. He showed up to the track this morning and opted to do his first HPDE in a car that the track rents out to students.

He initially thought that by the end of the day he'd take his Ferrari on the track, but in the end opted not to. "Why?" you ask? Because he appreciated track driving more after one day and thought that he had a lot more to learn. I wish him a successful buildup to the day he can enjoy his car to the fullest!

Great pics! Owner of the 458 was a great student with an open mind to High Performance Driving like the OP suggests, got a lot out of the DE and made the right decision to stick with the track prepped NC MX5 for a good learning curve. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Nice job with the pics.

Seriously? He drove a Miata around the track? Did I read that right? :-)

Yes you did read that correctly
MX5 (3rd gen/NC) is what replaced the former Miata. Track prepped suspension, near 200hp, 2300lbs is a sweet track recipe, especially for learning. You dont know what you're missing out on until you track one of these! (this is coming from a person who has experience with several generations of ///M cars among other high HP cars)
Hats off to the Ferrari owner for being a good student and making the right decision.

That's a nicely spec'd 458 too

I think some of the other supercar owners should take a page out of this guys book, he's at least doing it the right way

How can you tell? The only option I see are the Scuderia shields.

I do like his choice in color, though. Can't tell if it's Rosso F1 or Rosso Scuderia, but those are my two favorite choices.

Learn slow to go fast. Some of the most track fun I have had has been in low H/P cars and bikes. You have to execute perfectly in order to cut a good lap.

Depending on the track a good driver in the Miata could possibly turn better times than a bad driver in the 458.
