Got rear ended today! - Page 2 - BMW 3-Series Forum (F30 / F32)

Hey guys, have not gotten the work done yet as I am still deciding where to do it. My local dealer has a body shop, but in truth I have used them before and feel they are crap.

The adjuster gave my $1250 for the repair, which he assured me included a new m-sport bumper, subject to negotiation when I get the work done.

I am pretty sure parts, like bumpers, come the germany unpainted and I am concerned about the finish quality, so I am going to take my time before I pick a shop. There is another dealer nearby that I intend to call this week.

thats cheap, i had paid 900yuros for a stock bumper just this summer. Allthough it was for an e90, but that should only make it cheaper.

I know that in some cases you can request a PAINTED part to come out of germany. I had a boss years back who had a white bumper shipped from a factory already painted. This was easily 10 years back. Maybe its not allowed anymore.

But see if they will do that and its as simple as installing and will match and have factory paint to boot!

That is good advice on asking for a pre-finished bumper, I will try that.

Also, I do think the adjuster is off on his parts pricing, but he swears that he got the numbers from a local dealer and it was for an '13 m-sport. I am not buying it, but we shall see.

Just got my quote back, $1,000 for a rear bumper. Apparently, that's substantially lowered because my friend owns the shop doing the work though, so probably closer to $1500 if you have rear sensors and whatnot like mine does.

Sorry to hear. I know exactly how you feel

After just a few days of ownership and less than 600 miles, I got a hit & run in a mall parking garage. The corner of my front bumper got scraped to shit. It's hardly noticeable to most people, but I know it's there. $350 to repair.

I've come to realize that this is the reality of parking/driving in a city like Miami. It sucks but no matter how much you try to avoid it, you have to expect that these things will happen and just deal with it.

That is very typical of Miami. Sorry to hear. I got hit in my f30 2 weeks ago right in front if AA arena.
