I think I read somewhere that Tata signed some type of deal with the British government that they must keep Jag and Land Rover production in the UK if they wanted to buy the companies from Ford. The same goes for Geely and the Swedish government who bought out Volvo from Ford. Far as BMWs being produced in India, that is def for local consumption...... but if Jag can make it as good as the XF then I wouldnt say it will be a bad car but not as good as a 3 series

They have 2 plants in the UK being underutilized. I would bet that the "Made in India" tag is based on unfounded information. Either way, Tata Motors is the best thing that could have happened to Jaguar/Land Rover short of closing them down.

Bring on the competition! Competition is always good for the end consumer. BMW will work just a lil bit harder to hold on to its market-share and that is great news for all of us!

I would much rather that Tata Motors own Jaguar than Ford. Anyone needs only look at how much better they look since Tata took over.

Frankly, I think Hyundai will likely have a better everything in ten years. This company is smoking. They aren't there yet, but they have made gigantic strides in a short time. I think the ONE thing that they will have to do is come up with another name, similar to what Toyota did with Lexus. Hyundai is too entrenched in most casual people's minds as an economy car company to easily make the jump to luxury or sport with this marque. Keep the Elantra, Sonata, etc as Hyundai (see Corolla, Camry, etc) and move the Genesis, Equus, etc to some new luxo brand name.
I am impressed with what they have done. I am a Bimmerphile all the way, but you would have to have just arrived from Mars not to take note of Hyundai the past few years.

I was also at the Hyundai showroom today looking at an Equus, what a phenomenal car! Their other models look really good too.

I will wait and see what the car drives, feels and looks like before writing it off. If it is better than the F30 3 series i will buy it - simple. The XFR took on the E60 M5 a couple of years ago and won its fair share of comparisons.
All i'm saying is that Jaguar have the capability to build a credible F30 challenger - and no one knows how good/bad the F30 is going to be - if it continues down BMW's current path of producing less driver focussed cars in favour of appealing to the masses then the Jag may be an option.

I totally agree and I really hope that BMW are listening.
My E92 was an absolute delight to drive, but my F10, although in most respects an extremely good car, has sadly lost that keen edge.
I very much want to revert to a 3 series coupé, but if BMW continue down this slope, I might also be looking elsewhere in two years time.

Its a real shame - BMW have to listen because their biggest selling point is the way their cars drive - lets face it Mercs are more luxurious, Audi have some great looking cars with nice interiors - BMW have to ensure their cars feel the sportiest to drive otherwise they will be in trouble.
