Reliability of V10 M5/M6 ?

does anyone know about reliability for the 500hp , V10 in the M5 and M6.
A buddy of mine is smitten with getting one and I'm wondering if there have been any serous engine issues with this one. I like the M5 myself, but have the vert for the next couple of years at least, and lovin every top down minute. finally hit 60+ in the northeast today.

Thanks

They are very reliable form my experience. I personally know two people who have theirs from 06 with no engine/tranny problems.

I see no reasons why you should not get an M5.

It's disappointing to read all the threads about transmission and some differential problems, mixed in with an assortment of other headaches.

Everyday I drive my E60 M5 and think what an awesome and reliable setup it has been. It really has never ever given me a problem.

Yes, it slams sometimes but I have figured out a way to drive it which has taken 95% of the slamming away.

So who is very happy, like myself, with their E60 M5 and E63 M6 in terms of reliability?

For the record: I drive a good mix of slow and easy along with some spirited driving.

M5/M6 are good cars. Very fast, capable and attractive! But I'm looking for something to sooth my neck from the snapping SMG S6 shifts lol
