As with everyone else get rid of RFT's
That is 90% of the roughness especially on the ZSP. Yes the suspension is tight but I swapped out the tires and its a million times better. Leave the gauges the way they are if I wanted a Lexus I would get one, I have had cars with luminescent gauges and I really don't like them especially at night. I would really like an LSD but only make it for the upper model (335) with the sport package. Many people cannot handle an LSD it completely changes the driving dynamic of a car and I can see the stability programs working overtime with inexperienced drivers. OEM alarm should be standard I mean its going to be 2009 already its hardly a luxury item. DCT to at least the 335 level it would be nice on all cars. I havent played with the new Idrive yet, I know its greatly improved over the old one but please fix the POI, if it has been on the new one I will take that off. I can deal with the electronic dipstick but I would like my temp gauge back. Other then that I am really happy with the 330, I think it addressed a lot of things I wanted fixed with my E46.

I'm with all of you who vote to read of RFT, make sunroof as option, relocate front cap holders, etc
Someone propose V6 and front while drive - no, thank you. BMW - every Acura TL (that cost less then our 3) includes Bluetooth and iPod adapter as a STANDARD equipment.

GO BACK TO YOUR ROOTS! Car should not be over 3000 lbs. (I would be perfectly happy with manually-operated windows, seats, radios, and HVAC.) Quit trying to impress with expensive and largely useless technology for technology's sake. Ditch the cupholders! No serious driver needs or wants them. To add to the chorus, get rid of the run-flats -- PLEASE! Do we really need staggered-sized tires? Bump the horsepower up by 30. Give us back our dipstick! Don't hide that beautiful engine under an ugly plastic cover. Don't be so secretive and proprietary about maintenance and repair info. Make a repair manual readily available. The radio is terrible. The sound leaves a lot to be desired and adjustment is far too counterintuitive. Keep it simple with a good Alpine or Sony unit. We also NEED a limited slip differential. Yes, we do! And what about those colors? With other manufacturers offering seemingly all the shades of the rainbow, BMW's are really boring. What would you like? Black, white or gray? BMW's reds are just plain ugly. Why not a gorgeous candy-apple similar to Acura and Corvette? Or how about bringing back Baikal Blue (my all-time favorite color)? The list goes on .... On the plus side, keep the sport seats, the sports suspension, that lovely straight six, and, of course, the manual transmission.

Bring back the logic 7 as standard feature on the 335i.
Make the comfort seats on the 5 an option I-drive without the navigation standard Stronger AC vents Get rid of the cup holders, or make them actually useful Fix the turbo lag Alarm standard Automatic adjustment for the steering column Get rid of the RFTs, bring back the spare compartment with a spare Put all the tools into the toolbox Ventilated seats to cool as well as heat |

Exactly. Perhaps some form of cockpit adjustable shock damping with a "city" setting that is compliant enough so that you don't feel like you destroyed the car every time you hit a pit hole. CA

It is starting to piss me off that some volkswagons' have a dual clutch transmission and 3 series BMW's (besides M3) do not have it here...

Never forget the core customers. What differentiates BMW from other luxury brands is performance. BMW must maintain a clear vision that their cars must first and foremost perform well. They must go, stop and turn better than anything else in the class.
For the next gen car I would really like to see more adjustability in the alignment settings. How about going back to the marginally informative water temperature gauges? Shock absorber technology has come a long way...BMW should take a look at a product analogous to the Koni FSD. Just reading this post shows how many challenges face designers. Half of people responding want more equipment, which leads to more weight. The other half want the cars lighter with less equipment.

AND stop trying to make the car for everyone. BMW's have always been masculine, teutonic and utilitarean in design. Stop adding all this luxury and femininity to the car's design to gain a broader appeal. I want a pure light weight utilitarian German driving car.

I've owned an E30, driven many E36's and E46's and I now own a 2008 328i 6MT sedan, which I love. So I've seen the trend.
I urge BMW to keep the great handling and continue these trends - more power, better mileage, more refinement and improved reliability. But I would not increase size or weight. As others have said, I urge BMW to do something about the RFT's. They are great on smooth roads but too harsh with ZSP on rough roads. I want a full size spare and Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's. It seems like BMW needs one suspension/tire setup for countries that have great roads and another for those of us that live in areas with bad roads. I'd also like an oil or water temperature gauge. And please keep offering the 6 speed manual! Last edited by demosthenes; 11-12-2008 at 02:32 PM. |

This'll never happen, but wouldn't it be nice if there were, as an option, an integrated, powered mount (with external antenna connection) for a Garmin GPS? We've got the iPod interface, now let's get on with it and make the best GPS technology easy to use as well.
