San Francisco Bay Area - What to do?

My buddy moved out here from Virginia a couple months ago and hasn't gotten to know much of the area. I've been here since Thursday night and have done the basic things; downtown, fisherman's wharf, chinatown, GGB.
I want to check out GG Park, I hear its nice.

He lives in Walnut Creek, so we've wondered a bit around here to, but doesn't seem like theres much to do except for Crogan's.

Any ideas?

You've got the popular places in SF down...

Try venturing out: Monterey & Santa Cruz are nice places to visit.

Golden gate park is pretty cool. Do a search, they have events that happen all the time. And also freebies like swing dance lessons on certain days, which can be pretty fun.

www.yelp.com should help you zone in on specific things too.

Sorry, no slight on Blacksburg but having been there and San Francisco, if you cannot find things to do in SF for four days, I just wonder how you manage in Blacksburg.

Between college and my job there isn't much time, and the rest of the time is spent dicking around with friends. Here it's me and the city, my buddy's at work.

What are your hobbies or interest? SF is very diverse and normally accomodates to a large variety of people. The night life is not too bad at all.

haha santana row is nice... lots of good restaurants and a good atmosphere until you leave it... westfield valleyfair is a nice mall as well but dont think you'd want to come to the bay just to shop.

not sure what your interests are, but you can also venture into the napa valley for wine tasting. also head south to monterey, carmel, and 17 mile drive (pebble beach). take a drive down hwy 1 from sf to monterey.

+1 for hwy 1, especially if you have access to a bimmer! Head north across the Golden Gate and take hwy 1 as far as you want to go. It's a beautiful drive. Hit Muir Woods if you get bored. Interesting park with lots of history -It's also where they filmed the wooded / Ewok scenes from Star Wars. Very cool place.

Take the bus to nappa. You could drive, but half the fun is gettin' sloshed in wine country. Find a group of girls, play the loner thing up, drink good wine, have fun.
