BIMMERPOST NEWS2014 BMW 4 Series Coupe (F32) Strip Tease Continues, with First Look at Interior ![]() As its more hulking brother, the BMW M4 Coupe (F82) drops some camouflage, so too has the 4 Series Coupe (F32). This group of 4 Series Coupe prototypes are the most revealing we have seen yet, with heavy camouflage now removed from the headlights, C-pillar, and front fender areas. What's revealed is no surprise, but does give us a better preview at the final product. We can now see the headlights connected to the kidney grilles, the hoffmeister kink in the rear windows, and the opening for the boomerang front fender vents. We also get the first look at the interior of the production 4 Series Coupe. We will see the production F32 4 Series Coupe revealed sometime this Summer (with an auto show debut in the Fall). Production of the F32 coupe will begin this July 2013 (for deliveries beginning late August-September). The F33 4 Series Convertible begins production in November 2013. The coupe and convertible models will be joined by the 4 Series Gran Coupe model in 2014. The US will get the 428i and 435i coupes, in RWD and xDrive versions. The European model lineup can be seen in this previous post showing VIN model lookup results. In its first model year (2014), the 435i coupe will be powered by the same N55 engine as the current F30 335i sedan (with the same power output) and the 428i is likewise powered by the same N20 engine as the current F30 328i sedan. Although the first model year 435i won't see a power bump in the form of a successor engine to the N55 motor, we will see it with a power upgrade in 2014-2015 if BMW releases the 4 Series Gran Coupe in 2014 with a more powerful engine (just as they debuted a more powerful 650i N63Tu engine in the 650i Gran Coupe, which is now filtering down to the 650i and upcoming 550i LCI models). Follow our 4 Series news, info, and features @ http://www.bimmerpost.com/4-series/ Updated 3/12/13 with newest spy photos: Here's a review of a previously spotted production form 4 Series coupe (435i), which gives us an even better idea at what the production 4 Series coupe will look like. *Click on images for higher resolution* Share this story |

No, the driver is just trying cover as much of the interior as possible from the photographer.

Aside from the touch-iDrive controller, the interior looks the same to me as a normal F30. I'm surprised they would be so intent on covering things up.

i can see why our cars have all the squeaks and noise issues...the freaking test mules have felt lining covering the entire interior so all the sounds is muted!!

I'm surprised for such an expensive car the base models will still have halogen!

Looks good. Pretty toned down from the concept. After seeing the M4 this looks so tame.

On the issue of squeaks: it's next to impossible to have a car that has plastic, rubber, and metal not squeak when one market is facing 120 degree temperatures and no humidity while another is facing a blizzard. The other issue is producing hundreds of thousands of identical cars, which is not possible without increasing the price significantly. I've been in a brand new BMW 5-series that squeaks and rattles, and I've been a 3-series with 50,000 miles that's dead silent. Another big area where rattles come from are the folding rear seats because they're not solidly mounted to the car like normally would be. Yet another problem around is the dashboard, to get around this the Rolls-Royce Phantom by making the dash out of one solid piece of milled aluminum, instead of the traditional plastic. So, do you want to trade in your BMW for a $400,000 Rolls-Royce?

I've been waiting for this car for a very long time. The 4 Series Coupe Concept was gorgeous looking and had it's own separate design language and personality. I'll hold final judgement for the finished product but from what I can see here I'm starting to get a bit disappointed.
It's just starting to look like the 3 Series sedan in Coupe form. The cool front fascia is gone, the cool taillights are gone, the rear bumper is different, even the sexy looking interior has dulled to a standard looking BMW affair. I always knew the Coupe Concept was just a concept and the design would inevitably change but it just feels like a tease now knowing how good it could have looked. Here's hoping the 4 Series Coupe can maintain it's own unique identity separate from the 3er.
