exhaust tip care
How are you guys exhaust tips holding up? I've had the car for 4 days and my right one is already showing a decent amount of black sut on the inside at least. A neighbors e90 335 has completely black sut-full pipes...
I have mothers aluminum polish and eagle never dull standing by, but curious on how those with more miles on their cars' tips are holding up..... strangely my wifes Jetta TDI with 15K miles has sparkling clean tips.

I just gave up. My Sport Line has black tips, and they're just matte black now. Also, there are black splatter marks all over the rear bumper; these won't wash off. But honestly, I don't really care. I might wrap the diffuser part anyways.

I removed the exhaust valve clip so they both dirty up almost evenly.

Another +1. Nothinig special. Just wash and wipe. Guess it depends on how often you do it though.

I have the 328, so just the single muffler with 2 exhaust tips. Never having cleaned them, I've noticed that one of tips has considerably more soot on it than the other. The other day, while I fired up the engine to let it warm up while cleaning snow off the windows, I noticed that at idle, pretty much all the exhaust gas is coming out the "more sooted" tip.
So is this by design, so that at idle or under low engine load, all the exhaust gas is coming out of that one tip, and during higher load, both tips are used for exhaust? |

For all my cars in the past, I just use Never Dull.
http://www.eagleone.com/nevr-dull-wadding-polish It'll get it off no problem. Hope this helps. ![]() |
