Lease Calculator, need help.
I'm going to be leasing my first NEW BMW and want to make sure I do it right. Unfortunately I live in Rochester NY and refuse to do business with the West Herr Dealership here. It makes for annoying trips when I need maintenance done but it's the principle. If anyone knows a good dealership I should go thru, just let me know.
Anyway I'm looking at a 335xi, fully loaded, 6MT. I put the numbers in bmwconfig and now I'm trying to make a calculator to figure out the lease terms. Can anyone tell me the mandatory fees that are due in NYS so I can add it to my sheet? Also, if I messed up somewhere or left something out, please let me know. After I'm done, I can share it if anyone wants it. All credit goes to pelfbmw. I took his in his screenshot and I'm trying to make one. ![]() Last edited by sereph; 02-18-2013 at 12:05 PM. you think you are going to get the car for invoice and then the incentives will take you $1750 below invoice? seems unreasonable to me, good luck.

Cool, I'll definitely check it out. I edited the sheet to include what I think are some of the fees. Can anyone verify my calculations and also fill in the fee's that I need to pay? Spindeisel, do they add MACO there?
Sorry for all the questions. If I sound like a noob, it's cuz I've never bought or leased a BRAND new car before. Exciting and nerve racking all at the same time. Thanks again for the help. |

Have you ever considered Owner's Choice finance instead of Leasing?
You will pay almost same as leasing plus the fact that you don't have to worry about the annual mileage. Plus the fact that you own the car. I know that there is a Balloon amount due at the end, but who says you have to pay it. You can trade-in, and by that, cover the balance. Based on my calculations, the value of the car is usually higher than the Balloon amount. So there will some additional "G"s left in your pocket. Just a thought... |

Hi Shaw. Thanks for the suggestion. I really hadn't considered BMW Select. I don't even know how to make a spreadsheet for it but I definitely could try. I want to make some good templates for everyone so I can share it with you guys. But you're right about the payments being the same. But if I decide to trade it back in and the value is higher than the remaining balloon payment, will they reimburse me the difference? Also, I looked at PenFed and they have a Payment Saver option for a really low interest rate. Would that be a better choice over BMW Select?

Okay so I added some more items on the spreadsheet. Can anyone verify all my calculations and point out any mistakes I've made?
I calculated the MSD's at the monthly payment rounded up to the nearest $50, is this correct? I read somewhere that NY doesn't allow MSD's, only 1 up to $750, is this correct as well? In regards to the taxes, am I doing it right? Rolling them into my monthly's? Or should I edit the sheet. Thanks again guys for all the help so far. Hopefully we can all get a complete sheet and I can post it for everyone. |

Looks right. BTW you can roll acq fee and other fees into payment as well. You have 7 MSDs on the spreadsheet. If NY allows only 1 (not sure about this) then you will need to edit it again. Your MF is based on max MSD.

Cool. Thanks Kobe. Yea, I haven't changed the number of MSD's yet because I haven't found out if NY doesn't allow more than one. Also, does anyone know if the tire tax is mandatory. I just put it there cuz I see some leases that have it listed. Can you get it waived? If not, I'll keep it on there.

Hi, the tire fee is mandatory some dealers just eat it in the sales price. MSD's are not avail in NY. Otherwise ur sheet looks good. Shoot for 500 over invoice.......minus incentives.

Crap. Can I still put down 1 for $700? At least get my MF down by .00007. Better than nothing I guess.
Gonna work on a BMW Select sheet too. Since there is so little info out there from my searching. I think it would be nice to have one of those too to share. If anyone can provide info on the number I'll make one right up. Thanks Spindeisel. |

Unless you just enjoy doing your own spreadsheet, there is a good lease calculator at www.LeaseGuide.com that is the best I've found. Just make sure you account for all costs. |
