I installed the 12mm Burger Motorsports Spacers tonight, was pretty straightforward, and just did the rears because that's where the biggest queries have been coming from.

I ordered a host of fun stuff from them (since this is my first BMW and I didn't have all of their elite parts...like their BMW Wheel Saver Socket and their Jack Pads):



Installed on the rear hub...I didn't need a wire brush since I only have 8000 miles on the car, but the amount of rust in the hub is almost comical...(almost as bad as the rusty seat frames ):

The build quality is pretty nice...lightweight aluminum, minimal additional to unsprung weight, and the bolts are a HUGE upgrade from the stock ones.

I'm going for a test drive right now...BTW, directions were insanely detailed, it's kind of funny that people bitch about the lack of instructions for their piggy back unit.

I'm probably going to leave the front ones off until the Spring comes around since I'm too lazy to swap 'em tonight...

So came back from the test drive, re-torqued everything to about 88-90 lb's...everything sits nice and FLUSH.

12mm is literally perfect for our rears...anything wider would be ricey IMO.

Thanks for being the first. Can you take one more pic? I just want to see an up close pic of where the spacer contacts the hub. I want to be sure it nicely touching.

Sure I'll snap in the morning when there's more light out...
It meets up flush, there are only gaps where the pry tabs are.
I'll need to probably lightly sand and put some anti-seize on them in the spring after all this bloody salt on the streets from the daily snow...

I thought we could only fit 5mm or 15mm+ on rear for not having enough lip?
Did Burger tell you there 12mm rear was ok and safe?
If they did, I don't understand why H&R says they don't make 10mm to 12mm for rear.

Burger told me that a 10 or 12mm absolutely would not fit the f30 rear. The reasoning behind it is sound. So I'm wondering how well Shiva's 12mm fits.

That's so odd that they would say that, when I slipped the Spacer over the brake hub, it was snug and flush.

When I torqued the bolts down, it was snug and flush.

I wanted to take pictures this weekend, but alas, my car is back with BMW (again) for an annoying rattle in the dash, a dead horn (fuse?), and for some M Performance goodies (sneak peak!)

I'll post on Monday when I get it back...it fits perfect.

What was the reasoning behind them saying the 12mm wouldn't fit? Currently working on producing spacers (Tarmac Solutions; coming soon) and we haven't run into any issues so I'm curious what their reasoning is. Thanks for the info!

Also can't wait to see a stance photo of what the 12mm does, I am thinking about running them on stock wheels with h&R sport springs for this spring.

I'm not quite sure what the reasoning was... But it had something to do the the F30 hub lip protruding a few mm further than before. So there was not enough space for a lip with enough strength on the spacer. Of course I've always had my doubts.

They are the standard 18's (397 style).

I bought a wire brush today at home depot, so might tackle the fronts tonight since I'm dying to get them looking even...I don't think i'll need the anti-seize given I'll be changing the rims/tires every 10k and I don't want to put crap on the brake hubs.

The 12mm for sure. I was reluctant to try the 15mm since I think it would be too agressive with my drop.

Even with the 12mm, it might be really close; as the tires on the 19"s are much wider than the rim itself.

Nice...yeah, $ wise, the Burger ones workout well because they are the only ones on the market with lugs included, and they are def high quality lugs.

I'll update post with pictures when I get the front's done tonight...with the wife out of town, I'll have time to play! Play with the car that is...*ahem*

Despite the rain, I decided to mount the spacers tonight.

Def get a set of wire brushes from your local hardware store, I regret not doing this for the rears, it really cleans down the surface of the hub (why is there so much rust in there?!?!)...but I'll be swapping winters out in a month, so not stressed about it.

Nice, so no rubbing with the fronts? It's a good idea to use the same size spacer all round. Maintains the ratio between front and rear track widths. Widening just the rear leaves you more prone to under steer I think.

Yup, no rubbing, it's damn near perfect with my drop.

I do need to get out of the garage, but it was snowing/raining last night when I was doing this at 21:00h! When the $hit weather stops, I'll be doing a nice photoshoot :-)
