Finally! BMW Office (iDrive Email & Text Message) Integration with iPhone on iOS6 - Page 10 - BMW 3-Series Forum (F30 / F32)

Hi!

I can't see any menu item for "messages" in the Office menu on my F31.

I have option codes "S6NFA", "S6NKA", "S6NRA". Do I have everything I need. Do I need to configure anything to get this the "messages" menu item?

Remember the system is transient. You'll have to send another text to the phone after it's all set up and ready.

It's working now. I've been able to see text messages under both "All" and "Text Messages"

Got it working with an old Samsung Galaxy S with cyanogenmod 9. I had to go to the bluetooth options in I-Drive (options button while you are in the telephone menu) and there I had to activate the office functions.

All my SMS messages do show up automatically including old ones

.

But.... it doesnt work for emails which is important for me. Does anybody now how to make this work?

Help me out, please. I have Office in my menu which shows only address book and that's it. What do I miss in my car. My vin is F236769. I thought i have everything.. dammit.. I'm trying to connect my iphone 5 with ios 6 and latest BMW firmware upd01006.bin file.

You need the 'BMW Connected' iPhone app. But, email still does not link as the apple bluetooth software is incompatible with BMW's

Sure? Hmm.. does it work with snap-in adapter? I have old iphone4 and this adapter.

No need in BMW connected. You need it only for BMW Apps. I found out solution. It was in my iPhone: you shouldn't forget to turn on SHOW NOTIFICATION in your text message and email menu.

For those who have problem with emails: If your iphone have a jailbreak you can use BTNotificationEnabler from Cydia.

Id like to say that this indeed does work. Emails still show up as texts on the idrive, but the work around of changing the number of unread items from 5 to 10 or vice versa each time you get in the car does not have to be done now. Nothing has to be done, it works seamless and works with all different types of notifications. Kudos to whomever developed this neat application!!

I also can acknowledge that it works perfectly with the BTNotificationEnabler. it's a really small program and I wonder why Apple does not have this as a standard.

got email and text to work ... on iphone 5. i just read this entire 10 page thread lol. All the info is here. texts came in easily, the 'toggling' of show unread messages was the last step i missed but get email now easily too.

it's a bit of an annoying step, but only takes a few seconds, and nice to have and worth having email coming in on idrive on my way to work.

This is driving me crazy now!

I picked up my f90 on 1/3 and was dreading these problems, especially after paying the extra for enhanced Bluetooth and BMW Apps.

On first pairing my iphone5 the sync was fine, address book transferred over, BMW apps ok...but no email or SMS...

Did various combinations and eventually got some SMS & emails before they stopped...played around (resetting notifications, rebooting, setting up notifications) and seemed to get SMS but no email, but it was a weekend so only 1/2 expecting any. Eager to try and isolate any issue did the update from BMW (why I need an update on a factory fresh car I don't know!) on Sunday, all still appeared OK.

Yesterday, Bluetooth pairing failed and would not reconnect had to delete and re-pair the phone...

Had a long roadtrip today and thought I had a working solution by not allowing my case to close on the open BMW apps screen and causing screen to lock but despite thinking I had it cracked I received a call and that seemed to break the data connection and nothing since! Worryingly, Bluetooth pairing failed again and I needed to re-pair again even after reboot of phone and turning engine off & locking/unlocking car.

In the background trying to get SMS to send via Dragon Dictate futilely! The dictation works fine, says sending via connected iPhone but nothing happens!

So problems
- random loss of Bluetooth pairing requiring in unpairing and re-pair to resolve
- intermittent email
- intermittent SMS
- multiple notifications for same email
- cant send SMS

Any ideas? It is driving me mad!

Thanks for the reply, I did the update at the weekend. Ive only had the car since Friday so can't really say if it made things better or worse.

Im wondering if all this is related to the fact both Bluetooth (phone, address book etc) and USB (BMW Connected App) are being used concurrently?

There seems to be an accepted issue around BT Audio not working if plugged in via USB which make it difficult to use 3rd party apps like Spotify...could the issues be related?

If your issues are resolved can you detail what you did and how you are set up? There are alot of comments in the thread saying '...read the thread the answers are there...' But there are so many with slight variations and I seem to have tried everyone!

Hmmm! Decided today to not plug the iPhone into the USB... Hey presto on way to office & on way back connected via Bluetooth both email & SMS appeared!

Of course no USB connection so no Apps, calendar etc...

Can anyone else with this particular problem confirm its only a problem when the phone physically plugged in and the BMW Connected App open? Could it be its the USB & BT connection running together causing the issue?

Can you describe your setup? What phone are you using? Are you getting emails and text messages?

Iphone5, iOS 6.1.2, Feb 13 F30, latest update (downloaded Sunday), enhanced Bluetooth & BMW apps.

Hit & miss mail & SMS with cable connected, 100% success over bluetooth only.
