Launching a 330D

I found this video of some fool launching a 330D hard off the line. One foot on brake one foot on gas. Plenty of traction control intervention and wheelspin by the looks of it.

Erm, hand timed it seems to be taking 5.7 seconds to 60. If you listen really carefully, you can hear the dampness of the road, and a noticeable cut in power due to traction control. I am thinking the official 5.6 is easily achievable.

Apparently too damp to try this in Sport+

and for the xdrive version, no traction issues so probably near 5 secs, although it will carry some extra weight?

Wonder how full/sport auto compares to using the paddles? I know on the 335D the auto in sport mode seemed to rev too high and past the peak torque band so using the paddles was quicker but the new 8 speed doesn't seem to do that.

Good point, some experimentation needed with different shift points. The driver did use the paddles to change, think you can see an early 1st-2nd shift to stop the wheelspin. Car immediately crabbed 6-7 inches at the rear and held it there through first.

One thing for sure though, this is a quicker car than 5.6 seconds.
