I averaged 37.7 mpg on a round trip weekend to Atlantic City from DC. I averaged between 75-85 mph for most of the trip, and the mpg reflects driving around in AC as well. 436 mile round trip and still have 98 miles remaining on the tank, per the computer estimate. All this on a $49 fill up.
Daily commuting (32 miles round trip) in DC area traffic I am at an average of 27.1 combined. Not too shabby.

Typically average around 26-27mpg, last tank average of 29mpg. Mixed regular driving, some hard accelerating here and there.
Here is another question - how many miles has anyone been able to get on a single tank? So far my best has been 452. Main thing for highway mpg is to stay out of boost. I know at 80mph you will get over 30mpg, I never cruise much higher than that though. I wonder if, when cruising at 93mph, you are boosting.

I average 17.7 mpg since july always in sport mode and manually shifting the zf8. Mostly city driving is what drives the number down. Work days its just 3 miles to and 3 miles back. But too many damn lights and stop signs. But then 17.7 is better than 8-12 mpg anyday!

Very good average numbers.
For reference, my 335i Msport ZF AT is getting between 25.5 to 26.5MPG mixed driving, calculated manually. My daily commute is about 15 miles each way, and highway speeds are between 70 to 80mph, with the actual flow of traffic. I always drive in sport mode, use auto trans mode set to "comfort" to get all 8 speeds at those speeds. You can do that if you have the DH pkg, which gives you some added settings. I've tried to do a tank using eco mostly and some comfort, but I can't do it. The driving experience becomes like dragging a square box boat through molasses. CAN'T DO IT! Since the cold temps have hit, and new AS tires it's dropped by about 1mpg. TireRack also noted according to their tests the Bridgestone RE970's AS, which is what I have, suffered a 1mpg loss compared to other high perf AS tires they were tested against. BTW, these AS tires are quite heavy compared to the other competitors. Seems I'm experiencing the same 1mpg loss as TireRack got. Last edited by RPM90; 12-04-2012 at 08:52 PM. |

With all 3 of my BMW's, the MPG got better with more miles. I think by around 5K to 7K miles they achieved their best MPG. How many total miles on your 328i now? |

Good luck with that one. It's a BIG task. Small tip. As EcoPro mode is a really slug, you might, on occasion, start off in Comfort and once up & running, switch to EcoPro for steady state & coasting.

I average anywhere between 27 and 32 US mpg. My drive is 20 miles each way to work about 50/50 highway city. I've been extremely impressed with the fuel economy and on-demand power with this vehicle.

I do a weekly trip from North County San Diego to Santa Monica, on 5 and 405. The average speed is 63 mph (75 mph with some stop and go traffic), 110 miles each way, and I get 38.5 mpg on OBC. Comfort mode, because Eco doesn't make a difference at that speed on the freeway.
