The F30 chassis doesn't have a lot because BMW altered the DME on the N55 engine this year. If you owned an E90, there would probably be more tunes than your Porsche.

The F30 landed earlier this year. In that short time Hartge was released, JB is beta, PPK was announced, and others have stated they are working on it. Patience young Padawan...
Sorry, this post was pinned to the front page and I thought it was for the 5 series .... In terms of the 5 ... I am only seeing Hartage and the very expensive Dinan right now.

Has anyone considered the kellener upgrade. There are some impressive numbers. Looks Similar to hartage but better numbers. Also a video ( in French I believe) on you tube.

This tune isn't specified for F30 335xi, but i'm assuming this should be compatible since it's available on the x3 and 535xi?

Odd, my Dinan Dealership plays nice it seems so far - they were even willing to build it in to my loan!

Good point on stage 3...at most, i'd consider a Stage 2 ECU/IC/CAI...the oil cooler won't ever get used by me (since not tracking).

This is NOT true. BMW and Dinan have fallen out of bed so to speak over the years and all BMW dealerships won't just overlook a Dinan tune if you have one. Even my dealership 3-4 years ago warned me about this, and so did the Dinan installer. Dinan and BMW are now competitors with their new performance product line, and BMW has zero incentive to place nice with Dinan.

Dinan's stage 3 tune on the N55 motor for the E90 model cars required $3000 in additional upgrades before labor/tax including an upgraded intercooler and oil cooler. Now you're looking at having to spend probably an extra $4000 on supporting mods, plus they charge an extra $500 on the stage 3 tune. $4500 for an extra 18hp? No thanks. Only if I was tracking the car would I spend the money on the oil cooler and intercooler (but not theirs anyway).

I'm aware of a NY dealership that is an exception to the rule. Is that who you're referring to?

Cool

This is directly from Hartge

The Hartge Engine Conversion is significantly different to other, often cheaper systems.

Our Hi-Tech system contains many "smart" technical features,
and is the result of many months of design, testing
and durability trials.

The investment we have made during the development program has resulted in a full 3 year warranty
on the hardware and software, plus an insurance backed engine and drive line warranty,
covering any effect of the increased power output for a period of 12 months
from installation date, but limited to 6,000 Euro.

Technical features are as follows:
The Hartge ECU is an external additional control unit. It is internally sealed and cannot be detected by BMW service
procedure interrogations.

It is also not possible that BMW software updates can disturb the performance of the Hartge ECU. Unlike engine
management "chipping" and "flash" upgrades, it never gets overwritten during service enhancements by BMW.

The Hartge ECU is connected via a special wiring harness to the rail pressure sensor, control valve turbo charger,
boost pressure sensor 1, boost pressure sensor 2, air flow meter, water temperature sensor,
camshaft sensor (all plug and play) and power supplies.

Additional power is generated by increasing the turbo boost preassure by a precisely calculated number.
This number depending on engine speed, calcualteed engine load and other parameters.
The BMW ECU continues to monitor all other important engine parameters as standard.

Therefore the engine behaves as standard to ensure that the standard emissions controls remain intact for the standard
emissions tests and drive cycle testing.

There is also overload protection, which prevents full power from being delivered for excessively long periods of time,
for example when towing heavy loads, or driving for too long at
V-max. The Hartge ECU also prevents overload of the transmission at lower than 1,200 rpm,
and overstressing the engine at high power outputs.

In extreme temperature conditions, the Hartge ECU also monitors the exhaust gas temperature,
and if this exceeds the safe limit, the Hartge ECU reduces power accordingly back to standard BMW power.

All standard BMW engine protection and emissions systems remain in place and continue to function.

Installation at our place also includes a test drive including taking performance figures of your car
before and after the Hartge engine upgrade from 50 - 125 miles.

Also we will program your own bespoke engine mapping for your car while driving to get the best
result for your engine.

We will need your car for approx. 5 hours

BTW: I live Germany about 1.5 hrs from their installation facility

Yes they are an exception to the rule but that's because of their shop, the Foreman is a BMW nut and has heavily modded cars himself...

If you go there ask for Pat Moreau from sales and he will take care of you and your car when your in there... He's One of my best friends and is working to put together a shop himself (he's working for me, more of those details will come as the plan comes to fruition), not just my sales guy, haha.

I'm going to wait and see what the BMW PPK and Dinan S2 look like for the F30 N55 engine. It's a new ECU, so the flash will need to be specifically for this ECU/Engine combo. I won't get my F30 335i M-Sport until somewhere close to March, so one or the other should be coming out by then. If you catch Dinan during one of their "sale" periods, the S2 flash is about what the expected price is for the PPK, or so I've heard - somewhere around $1600. Fortunately, my dealer sells/supports Dinan, so either one of these will work for me, just depends on which one appears to have the best bang for the buck. As cheap as Cobb or JB or Procede? No, but on a brand-new and financed car, I'll take the no-hassle route. I expect PPK will come out before Dinan, as they have to figure out the encryption and so forth like they did with the N54 and E9x N55 ECUs. BMW doesn't make it easy for the flash tuners these days.

What are you speaking of - Dinan, the BMW PPK, or something else? Dinan you would buy from a dealership or Indy shop that sells it, and the PPK from a BMW dealer. The rest are from various sources - some directly from the maker, and others from tuning shops or vendors like Top Gear Solutions.

As far as I'm concerned I would buy a German tune (Hartge) over an American tune (Burger Motorsports) any day of the week for a German car. The Germans have that attention to details that an American company could never touch. And calling your company "Burger" doesn't make you German haha

Based off of your join date I will take the noob factor into account and guess that you are not aware that Burger is the owners last......

And I wouldn't be so quick to knock the american tunes, they have provided some of the most powerful and reliable tunes for the N54 powered cars..
