Exclamation Voice Commands

Hi all, I have had problems with the Sat-Nav in this car as you are well aware.
Anyway I wanted to check with others on here if this problem is specific to my car or many.
I have the HK sound system and want to listen to it, so I have it on quite loud, with the Sat-Nav "voice commands" turned ON I do not here the Voice clearly unless I turn it right up louder than the HK This is deafening.

On my last BMW the Radio muted out when the commands were given, on this unit it does not.
Anyone else?.

I only have the stock sound system, but whatever I'm playing (USB, radio, etc.) is muted almost completely while voice commands are made.

PS - my satnav is playing up too. It's the MY12 version but I now get the 'Starting navigation' message for a good 4-5 minutes plus it won't show traffic any more

Report it as I seem to be "hitting a brick wall" with mine.

Our standard stereo mutes the music during voice commands. I'm pretty sure I saw an option to adjust the volume of voice commands. Is there not an option to lower the music volume during voice commands?

Good point I will check the Manual.
Checked NO just the usual "adjust the volume whilst she speaks" well it needs to be too loud as the radio does not mute.

Same problem here (also got HK); the sound doesn't fade out for the voice directions as it used to do on my E82, can't be right because as John says, you have to turn the voice directions way up (uncomfortably so) to be able to hear them otherwise. Going to get the dealer to look at it, perhaps it's HK-specific?

I have HK sound and when there's voice guidance the music volume automatically lowers during the instruction.

Was like that from day one. So I don't know if theres any settings for it.

EDIT: To be a bit more specific thats with iPod, I've not actually listened to the radio while using guidance.

It's the Radio that does not mute.

Strange it would do it with a media device but not radio.

Will do - have to take the car in this week after a little 'incident' with a woman on her phone running me off the road, so will ask them about it too.

I'll try tomorrow. Must admit I haven't used the voice guidance much as I've mostly been on familiar routes.

Yeah...Mines the same. Although my girlfriend was saying she wanted it that way instead of it muting the music.

More annoyingly though, I seem to have a squeaky drivers side window, like a dying cat. Any tips? I'm away for a month next week so, see if it still there when I get back, wasnt there when I got the car, so hoping it will just go as suddenly as it came.

I have Pro Nav and the radio volume reduces by the equivalent of 2 or 3 notches of the volume dial when the nav commands come in.
No problem with setting the volume of the nav commands at a comfy level.

Mine is a June '12 car, so earlier Pro Nav version, and I have HK.

YES I had the previous sat-nav system with no problems, this one however has problems.

John it must only be HK equipped, because my new pro nav DOES drop volume to a set level. If volume is high it drops to say level 5, if volume is level 4 it doesn't drop as already low enough.

The only thing that annoys me is sat nav voice commands still blurt out when taking a phone call. My Merc used to mute commands as far as I can remember. Will suggest this to BMW for future updates

Tested mine today and it definitely cuts the volume of the audio source. I have HK and tried DAB, FM, Internet radio and media interface and all do it. Not sure what is up with yours John.
