Well, BMW certainly succeeds in confusing everyone with their upgrades. I just took delivery of my 2013 335 with performance power kit and M Sport exhaust. Based on this current info, I would assume the M Sport power kit to be released in March 2013 is a "different" power kit. I just wish BMW would let everyone know what the supposed differences are between the 2 power kits. Based on what I can find on the internets, the only difference may be that the installer is wearing a shirt with the M logo on it.

Would love to see your window sticker, because they might have fooled you...PPK is a port installed option.

Yes, power kit and exhaust are port installed. I've got the window stickers to prove it. This is my second 335 with both port installed options. This one seems different because of the timing of my purchase. I think my car got caught in the middle of the performance power kit and the new M power kit that is now being heavily promoted with all of the other m sport options. Regardless, I have the M sport exhaust with the engraved tips, even though I think my build sheet didn't specify (option Z10 Performance Exhaust). Build sheet also had Performance Power Package (option Z3B). To me, it just seems a name change to M Sport Performance Power Kit as opposed to the old label of BMW Performance Power Kit. Engine bay is lacking badges at this time and I am researching that further. Not in the mood to get ripped off and pay for a VPC option that actually didn't get installed. Regardless, I love the sound of the M Sport exhaust over my prior performance exhaust. Car is brand new so I have not driven it hard yet and haven't even put it in sport or sport+ mode yet. My understanding is Z3B is just black grilles with M performance exhaust. It has nothing to do with the PPK.

I wholeheartedly disagree - the value is MORE than there. I've used Dinan software and other upgrades since 2001 (on 2 E46 330i) plus my current E92. Never had a warranty issue, never had to lie to BMW service about having a tune, and never had to worry if I was pushing the engine too far.

Look at it this way - you can buy "used" for less than you can CPO, right? The CPO comes with an extended warranty, which you pay a little more for. If I were offering a tune with a parallel warranty, I'd need to get something extra for it as a reserve against claims, just like an insurance company does. I also like the fact that Dinan builds racing engines and suspension components for professional venues (such as the BMW-Rileys in ALMS) and has done so for 20+ years.

Yes, Dinan's not for everyone, but to say the value isn't there is just not accurate. It depends heavily on what your definition of "value" is, and there are multiple points of view on that issue. You can buy a Challenger R/T, Mustang GT, or Camaro SS with more horsepower than a 335 - all in stock configuration - but which would you rather drive? Bang for the buck, the Mustang is probably going to be the best, but we (on this forum) all drive BMWs because we feel like they're the better value, mostly in terms of overall feel and quality. So we pay more and get less, if you look at it from a pure raw-performance viewpoint.

Not that is matters, but the stickers to my understanding go with the actual yet-to-be-release M-Performance Power Kit (PPK) which includes the intake silencer, engine cover with new badges, etc. It's outlined earlier in this thread.

I've also ordered the ZB3 option. I forget the exact name. It does deceptively have the word "Power" in it. It's just the exhaust and black grills. I hope you didn't think you took delivery of anything more than that. I say that because of the stickers comment, your second PPK, and your comment about lack of badges in the engine bay.

I do believe I ended up with the Performance Power Package (Z3B), which was on my build sheet. Performance exhaust (Z10) was also on my build sheet but was likely deleted because of Z3B. If my understanding is correct, Z3B does not include any engine mods that were seen with prior performance power kit. Appreciate any info.

Dinan is actually cheaper per HP/TQ than the PPK, there's no contest ($1700 for 30 ft/lb vs $2000 for ~100 ft/lb)

I just wanted to entertain the PPK because the stickers looked sick.

Seriously though, I wanted some pep and thought the PpK would safely cover my a$$ until Dinan finishes its exhaustive R&D and I'm impatient.

My dealer Installs and warrants Dinan products like crazy-I just saw a customer with an '09 order $10k of Dinan parts and had it installed and warranted by them. My only hesitation is that IF I leave my home dealer, what happens to my 6 year/100k warranty...not too many dealers are as generous.

It's been my experience since 2001 that any dealer who sells/installs Dinan software and parts will work with Dinan via the parallel warranty provided by Dinan. The dealers themselves don't provide any warranty, but they will not try to pass off problems to the presence of Dinan mods unless it appears that they may somehow be responsible. Most dealers will recognize that an intake or exhaust can't be blamed for a suspension problem, and so forth. Your best bet is to do some investigation of other dealers you might encounter and whether or not they are also Dinan dealers or mod-friendly in general. You are correct in saying that not all dealers are such.
