I'm using the USB cable. I meant it shows up under the list of devices I'm just missing music. I can take pictures later today.

You have to turn off Bluetooth audio. The car can only handle one or the other. Bluetooth or USB, not both. Find Bluetooth > Audio in iDrive settings and turn it off. BJ |

I am using Spotify Premium to play music through my BMW 328i F30 via an iPhone 5.
The music will play using the iPhone 5 connected to the USB port with the supplied apple iphone 5 USB cable. I hear the music, but I cannot change the song with the iDrive controller, or the steering wheel controls. I have setup the iPhone 5 as a Bluetooth device. I also can hear the music play through the car stereo, but again I cannot change the songs with the iDrive or the steering wheel. I must pick up the phone, and touch the arrows on the screen to change tracks. Is there any way I can use my steering wheel controls to change the music? This does work with a USB stick connected. I can browse playlists, search music, move back and forth etc. as normal. |

Hoping to get some help with listening to tunes from my iPhone.
For info purposes I have a 2013 328 with optional Premium (which includes Nav) and Executive packages but not BMW Assist/Bluetooth Audio I bought a Y cable from ebay (reputable seller with 99.5% positive feedback) and unfortunately it is not working. When I plug in my 4S there is sound that comes through the AUX cable however the USB icon displays "Not Connected". ![]() It could be that the USB portion of the cable does not work, however it actually charges the phone so at least there is some connection. I tried resetting the phone, restarting the car, trying out my old iPhone 3GS and still no results. I read the manual but there don't seem to be any other tips other than "plug it in and enjoy". Is there anything else I could try? If anyone has any tips I would greatly appreciate it. Happy New Year! |
