LV Select best so far at £569. £0 Voluntary Excess, £200 Compulsory Excess, all covered except Breakdown Cover. Not bad for Central London.

Similar to my quote with LV but with £200 voluntary excess. BMW want £960 for the same cover!

My dealer tried to tell me for the majority of his customers the BMW insurance is very competitive if not cheaper. He didn't even ask me how it compared even though I got the quote in front of him (when arranging the 7 day cover) so how would he really know.

F30AM did you find the exact model on their online system? The one I found was stated as being an M Sport Series 6... which when I phoned to check was told that was the latest 3 series... how are we suppose to know!!

I went onto the gocompare.com search engine and got the exact model no.

Yeah I guess it must be, the guy on the phone said as long as they have right engine size and your location then that's what they need to base their quote on..but I was still a little sceptical ... you know what these Insurance Companies are like ..if/when it comes to claim time!!

I am probably gonna go with LV though as their quote was very good..!!

Mine's still 'departed plant', no change since yesterday morning. Been trying to locate it on the WW shipping site using the VIN, but no luck as yet! If I knew it was definitely Bremerhaven-Southampton (my dealer is in Leeds) then I'd think it would be on the next ship, which leaves on the 11th...

There does seem to be a slight lag from 'departed plant' to 'in transit' probably due to waiting for the right ship.. I would think Southampton would be its destination as mine was ... and my dealer is in Leicester.

It looks to be on target dont fret...

Thanks, as soon as it gets on the ship (hopefully Tuesday) I'll be able to relax I think! It's all pretty quick to be honest, I only ordered the car 3 weeks ago! Quicker than my previous BMWs for sure, down to the time of year perhaps...

Just phoned this morning for a status on mine and it's now been updated (as of today) to "Arrived at Port of Exit". Next ship out of Bremerhaven and going to Southampton (run by WW) is tomorrow, arrival in the UK on Friday - anyone reckon that will be my ship (my dealer is in Leeds)?

Maybe not Mark, Hull would be your port, I would check with your dealership, they should know which port of call they receive from.

Thanks John, assume that's the Immingham port? If so, no boats due to go to there for the rest of this year, assuming it's WW that handles all the boats for BMW to the UK...

Yes thats exactly were your car will come from, I just phoned Leeds BMW Stratstones to confirm it.

No tracking on ships is commom for BMW UK Mark they lost my X6 for 4 weeks

I think the cars just get loaded onto the next ship on the route. I think I worked out that my car came on a Spanish ship that just happened to be next from what I could tell.

the next step after you've found out your car is at Port of Exit stage is to draw up a short list of ships

Check out the Cuxhaven departures too to get the full picture. You won't know which ship your car is on until it arrives, then you can back track to find out. I'll grant you it's a pointless exercise once you get to that stage but it helps to fill that gap between knowing it's in the country and picking it up
