Dear Gentlemen guess what....***drum role***

My baby has reached the dealership safely today !!!

She will be ready for collection this weekend but I will be collecting it mid next week after a proper PDI check without any shortcuts...pics to follow..

From placing the order to being delivered at the Dealership today it was a very painstaking 3 months + 2 weeks

Finally the wait is over....I can now catchup on all that lost sleep...

Awesome news mate! The wait will be all but forgotten when you get in it

What a long wait though, must have been torturous!!

I'm just hoping mine hasn't been delayed; the status update of 'date change' today is confusing me, as the delivery week hasn't changed on their system, despite it saying this...will hopefully find out more tomorrow

Thanks Mark. I did make a few spec changes along the way which may have altered it a bit.. but I am overjoyed.

Yeah your date change does seem a bit iffy, not sure what's going on, chase up your dealer to find out from the factory, however if yours is on the Production Line it normally does'nt take more then a day for it to be rolling off at the other end!!

The guy at BMW CS speculated that it may have been that the date changed (either earlier or later) earlier in the day, and that - as the delivery week is the same as it always has been - its now simply gone back to how it was. They can only give the last update and not the history, but this sounds plausible.

As the build week is still the same, and particularly as the status before this was 'paintshop start' (ie it's on the production line), I'm not overly worried about it!

Will find out tomorrow I guess!

Until this morning that is and guess what, its now gone back to the 24th

They should be able to give you a reason! 16 weeks is already a crazy time to wait..

When I phoned BMW CS they would normally start by being offish when asking for an update...what you need to say is that the dealer is to busy to respond and you would like an update now!!

Also if they are still reluctant say that this is not the first time you have phoned in for an update, all you want is the latest status code...

Yes they never seem 100% happy helping you, and some don't even know what the status code is or where to look for it; but persistence usually pays off in the end They can help you and do have access to the information you need, if I have any problems I usually say something like my sales guy is on holiday this week so I was hoping you could give me a quick update on my car etc., just keep trying...

My BW was week 47. They never gave a reason as the normal person I spoke to wasn't there and I was in a bit of a hurry.

I did try BMW CS for the first time but the guy said he couldn't find it from my order number, said he needs either the VIN no or the reg no so I will try and get them today from the dealer.

You'll need either your dealer order number on your order sheet for the car (7 digits), or the last 7 digits of your VIN (which your dealer can give to you). Maybe don't say you've ordered the car from them when you phone up, perhaps say something along the lines of ’my car is in production this week and I've been asked to give you a call for a quick status update’. I usually say something like that and have got the info every time. Good luck!!

I did give him the dealer BMW order number, 7 digits which I got for the first time yesterday but he said that he couldn't find anything from that. He did sound as though he was trying for me so I took his word for it.

My dealer did tell me 10 days ago that it had left the factory and was in transit.

Haha, you won't make it...I'm phoning 3 times a day at present, it does make it easier for me personally, so I know exactly what stage is at. Putting me into a deep sleep into handover day would definitely be preferred, though...
