I do indeed have an F30 in the drive, but either they screwed up on the spec list big time ..........or I have a loaner.

Apparently the ship used the BMW sat nav and it said turn right towards Iceland instead of left to Southampton . It arrives at the dealer Friday next week, I can pick it up Tuesday/Wednesday next week.

Looks to be 3-5 days depending on the ship you're on, you can track the ships here I think: http://sagaweb.2wglobal.com/AppSchedules/countryList.do

After being consigned last week (Thu 29th) I called today to find out the status and the computer is showing 9800 (at dealer) however the dealer hasn't got it! Any ideas why this might have changed on the BMW computer before the car has been accepted into the dealership ?

Yep! They put that on my PCP quote without me even asking, it came straight off!

Very overpriced; if you wanted something similar you'll be able to get a high-quality pro detailer to do a much better job for a lot less (the guy I usually use is doing a similar/better treatment on my 330d when it arrives, for £150)).

All dealers seem to just add it. I too had them take it off.

Don't do it! You can guarantee it will be badly applied by someone on minimum wage. If the paintwork isn't prepared perfectly all they will do is seal in the imperfections/swirl marks. Also the interior seal doesn't smell very nice!

It’s way overpriced and a massive profit for the dealer. As said by Mark if you are interested get a professional detailer to do it.

On a similar note, I was going to get my detailer guy to sort the car out with a wax/sealant etc. a few days after I'd picked it up, but I wonder if I would be better asking my dealer not to touch/wash the car at all after they receive it, and I'll get my guy to wash it and do it at the dealership before I collect it, so the dealer can't put any marks/swirls etc. on it before I get it.

Does anyone think think they'd let me do that, or would I be better getting my guy to do it after I've collected the car?

IHMO it's a waste of money as the markup is massive, just give her a good wash every now and then.

My car is being collected tomorrow morning from Southampton docks for delivery Saturday afternoon. If you see a mineral gray F31 on the back on trailer coming down towards London it's mine

Yes they should. Most detailers strongly recommend you do not let the dealer loose on the paintwork and let them prepare it. I'll be checking the paintwork very carefully and won't be happy if the dealer has introduced any swirl marks in the paintwork.

Thanks Richard, just texted my detailer guy to see what he says. It's the Shadowline trim that's the worst, picks up swirls and little scratches like no-one's business!

Nice one Mine's at 5200 Paintshop Start, but that was yesterday just after "Bodyshop Start". So I'm guessing mine will either already be finished as of yesterday, or due to be finished today? It's a shame the system is about 24 hours behind...
