If after four attempts at repair, the problem remains, it is entirely within the realm of possibility.

I hope it doesn't get to this, but i'm sure they'd accomodate you with some M-Pref brakes before you lemon it. Good luck with the car. I'll keep you posted on mine.

Just adding this post as a record of another F30 335 m sport with brake squeal. My dealer tried to fix it once (so far) - worked for a day and squeal is back.
BMW needs to start hearing more complaints about this. |

I had reported this sorta break squeal on another members thread a month back.
http://www.f30post.com/forums/showth...ghlight=squeal The car only had around 800kms on the odometer then, so i thought i'd be patient and drive it a few hundred kms more and see if it would go away. I'm currently at 2,000kms and its still squealing like a pig on steroids. It's so bad that when i'm parking the car in the garage, my next door neighbours look at me and ask if my car is ok. I'm making an appt with my SA and will post back for progress. |

Seems like an M Sport Brakes issue?
Could it be becuase of the different brake pads? Hope you guys get this sorted soon. I would suggest replacing them with the M Performance Brakes! ![]()

This. After one month now and 3400 kms, the only squealing I hear is from pigs at a farm.....(wow, did I actually write that?

Just dropped off the car at the dealer this morning, curious to see if they can figure out whats going on.
On a side note, i had my winter setup put on 2 days ago which consists of oem 313 on Blizzak LM60. Surprisingly, car drives alot better and noticed less brake squeal? I'm not sure if the stock 19" Pirelli pzero rft has anything to do with it, but i definitely noticed less squealing. |

I have had low-speed brake squeal since taking delivery last week. I'm just hoping it goes away

***Update***
Dropped off the car at the dealer last friday and picked it up later that night. My SA told me they filed off the 4 edges/corners of the pads as per service file. They test drove the car and the brake squeal was still present. So now they opened a PUMA case, and I have to wait for a call from my dealer for further instructions. Basically the same thing they did on fellow forum member Shep1's post here: http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=757517 So now its a waiting game, no fix, and brake squeal still wakes up the neighbours at night... |

A couple of days after I picked up my 335i Msport I did a very good bedding on the brakes. The car only had about 30 miles on it.
I only get a very slight squeal occasionally when coming to a stop, but when it does happen it's very very light in sound, nothing bothersome. I'm surprised that the BMW techs don't do a simple trick to the brakes to see if the squealing stops. Seems BMW didn't put in an "anti squeal shim", or if they did it's not an effective one. If I were you guys I'd ask the tech to apply high heat black grease to the back of the brake pads, the part that contacts the pistons. The grease acts as anti vibration insulator by keeping the pad backing plate from vibrating and creating the squeal. The grease becomes a vibration damper. Every time I've done a brake job on my cars or friends and family, I always use grease and it works great. I've tried the shims, but it's hit and miss with those, and then I have to apply grease anyway.. Some pads comes with a rubbery type material already applied/glued to the back of the pad as an anti vibe insulator, those seem to work pretty well, but you have to get that type of pad. And, over time that backing tends to dry and loose it's anti vibe damping ability. Even with the M performance brakes, I don't know if they tend to squeal or not, but I thought I read a couple of posts from owners who have had them installed and I think at least one owner said his M perf. brakes also squeal. The more aggressive pads on my Msport (OEM) don't really feel any different than other non Msport F30's I've driven. The most obvious thing these more aggressive pads do is put out a LOT of brake dust. They are as bad as my 135i was with it's beautiful Brembo calipers. I wish BMW would have used those on the Msports front and rear. 6 piston fronts and 4 piston rears. They looked fantastic, well, at least once you ignored all the dust all over the place. ![]() Ask the dealer tech to try it and see if they will. If they do, report back if it works. Can't hurt, give a shot. ![]() |

Happy to report that the squealing has gone away (for now). Fingers crossed.

Would love to know what post-dealer methods you guys are following. I find that after a car wash and hard braking, it goes away temporarily but slowly comes back with a vengeance.
