I have iPhone 4 with bumper and screen and back protector films. Recently switched the back film to leather that I got as a gift.

I'm not even sure how you can do that to a phone without basically trying. I have a buddy who works construction and has his phone without a case since launch and it zero scratches, nicks, etc. on it.

I bought them for my longer term employees who wanted them and they have had no issues either, none have cases. Granted, we work in an office all day, but I just can't figure out how you get that kind of damage on a phone without trying.

I used to rock all my phones naked, but I drop them all the time and have broken a few screens, so I have since purchased an Otter box Commuter case. Although it is bulkier than a naked phone, I have dropped the phone pretty bad several times and there has been zero damage to the phone.

My insurance covers anything that could happen the the phone, (Water damage, dropping, etc etc.) It is a third party insurance though.

I cracked 3 phone screens so far. Just got the iPhone 5 and mini iPad and learned my lesson and now I have it all in otter box cases. They are awesome. I don't care about showing the phone design. You recognize an iPhone 5 easily even in a case. Can't afford to crack another one.

I have a 2+ year old Nokia that looks like a Blackberry - ie. screen + keyboard. It is a basic smartphone and does everything I need - phone / texts / simple web browser internet access / 5mpixel camera. I have a very soft leather case, to protect it from scratches and if I drop it - which I have several times. It has a few light scratches and no cracks.

I dropped and shattered my old iPhone screen in it's case. I currently have my iPhone 5 in a case that adds pretty significant size to it, but I've dropped it a few times so far and no issues (hit the parking lot hard on the corner of the phone last night too). I don't care about looks so much, people know it's an iPhone, they just can't tell if it's the 4S or 5 unless I hand it to them. I don't care though, I'm not a brand whore, just bought it because I wanted it

Not to mention that you are paying $7 or more per month on top of that over the course of a two year contract. If you break the phone in the first month, it could pay off, but I always ended up breaking mine in the last few months of the contract so it was never worth it to me ($7 x ~21 months = $147, plus $100 deductible and I'm at $247 for a 2+ year old phone).

for the cost of a new iphone data plan, i'd rather max out my cable lineup and/or upgrade the broadband speed.

Clear bra's are better

Some cases are pretty cool looking, sure they take away from the look of the phone, but who cares? It's all personal preference.
