I added a few options and the price hikes. It's much nicer than the previous "hunchback" cayman. It's definitely my candidate in the next few years.

The 944 is one of the best handling cars you can get. I owned a 944T and can tell you the handling and cornering is amazing, even compared to today's standards and the 944 is almost 30 years old.

Porsche needs to bring back two things:

1. Modern evolution of the 944, with a twin turbo, 3.0 liter, 4 banger. 2,800 - 2,900 lbs.

2. New 928, with the same "mid engine" (but in the front) layout as the Merc SLS, V8 goodness with POP UP HEADLIGHTS.

Never mind with this Cayman stuff.
The cayman is an extremely capable car, I wouldn't under estimate them. Especially one that has a 3.8 X51 engine swapped in, or a bolt on turbo kit with 550HP. Once it has the power the chassis deserves, it eats 911's, gt3's etc for breakfast on track. Its also pretty easy to get them down in weight, too.

Well sure, if you're talking engine swaps, aftermarket tubro/supercharger kits, aftermarket suspensions, then that applies to any car. Give me enough money and I can make my Z4M eat a 911 turbo with an M5 S85 engine swap.

Cayman's a great car. But you have to compare it with the way it comes from the factory, not with tens of thousands of dollars of modifications on a $70,000 car. Heck, you can now even get a GT3 for around the price of a new Cayman.

Right now, if it was between a new Cayman or a used Audi R8 4.2L, you'd still have to go with the Audi for a few more bucks, both looks and performance.

Looks better than the last gen IMO.

Only Porsche can get away with charging more for a hard top than a vert.

I think it looks fantastic!!! I have no doubt this car will take a lot of sales away from the base 911 Carrera.

If you're going to buy a new $70K sports car next year, it's going to be a tough decision between the Cayman S and the F-Type coupe.

those pics seem massively touched up.

I always liked the idea of the Cayman.. but I think I'd prefer it to be a bit more menacing

Why does the Cayman cost more than the Boxster? Why does the Cayman not get the deserved powered? Simply because if the Cayman was priced as it should it would be the most affordable Porsche, but also the best drivers car. With the right power the 981 would just be so much better than a 911, especially on track, and porsche does not want that. Can't you just imagine 911 RSR beeten by "Cayman RSR"? No way.

Looks beautiful! Probably going to be pricey though. I priced out a Boxster S (the new one) and loaded it would run around $80k!

Love this car, can't justify spending 90k on it. I will get a 987 gen 2 tho, hopefully this month.

I've been waiting for a long time to see what the new cayman will look like and I really like it.

I was thinking about getting the new 991 but when I saw the price after some basic addons it was way too expensive. Hell the 991S is in Aston Martin Vantage territory.

If I can get the Cayman S to around 70k OTD, then I'll probably get one in the spring. Unless I can find a used 991 base in the low 80s

but the 991S is probably a much better drivers car (also faster) than an aston vantage..

i have never driven an aston but from what i hear, they arent as sharp as 911s...

As a previous owner of a Cayman S (best car I've ever owned), I can very comfortably say I'll be buying one of these in 2014/2015 when the prices go down on used models.

Best looking car under $100k ever!

Let me rephrase that to cars built in the last 10 years.

Nope, styling is subjective.
