Android to iDrive? HOW?!?! - BMW 3-Series Forum (F30 / F32)

Okay, just bought a new Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and wondering what it can do with my car.

Heres what my car has to be clear. It has the iDrive system but its the basic thing. I didn't buy navigation for it or enhanced bluetooth Im pretty sure (unless it comes basic with the car).

So I was wondering if my galaxy note 2 can wirelessly stream music from the phone to the iDrive for wireless music playing?!?!

Can't say much about the rest but for streaming music you need enhanced bluetooth

Enable the a2dp protocol (phone-options iirc)
Then it comes up under media

can you please be more specific? there is no "phone" only "telephone" and theres no "option" in telephone.

You need enhanced bluetooth for streaming music

the guy in this vid explains how to enable it

and there ARE options for your phone such as enable data connection etc. But it all depends on options I guess.

Ok thanks for the confirmation. Do you know if this is available to get installed in my car like now, when i should of gotten it ordered with the car? haha. If so how much would it cost now?

Yes it can be ordered from the UK. its expensive of course..

If you did not get enhanced BT to connect wirelessly, you can still use a USB cable and play audio files stored on the phone as you would from a flash drive.

But, it's probably cheaper & easier just to buy a chaep 16-32GB thumb drive and always leave it connected.

With enhance BT you can see messages, etc. in the idrive from BT.

Even if your vehicle is not equipped with enchanced bluetooth option, you can still have Bluetooth Audio! You just need to get a Combox retrofit and have your vehicle properly coded!
