We're guaranteed to get ours from Germanland because we all know how the Germans* like to rape other European countries of their money and they'd never let a sale go to SA that they could take themselves.

Dealer has said my scheduled delivery date is still the last week of December. Expecting in the next two weeks this to change.... Haha

The Euro is a devalued currency in comparison to the DMark and it perfectly suits the German export driven economy. If they still had the DMark (they don't want it), their goods would be too expensive and would not sell, especially if they were manufactured in Germany. In fact, it really helps BMW to have factories in low labour cost countries like SA. They still sell the cars at the same price as the German manufactured ones. Japan and Korea do the same. They are all at it. That's business.

NISFAN I tried to register my car but got an email that the car was not in the UK yet and to re-try once the car had arrived!!

QUICK UPDATE:

Just had an email from my Dealer..quote:

'Your car is built and about to leave the factory'

Having also just spoken to BMW CS - who was initially giving me a load of codswalop - after which I twisted his arm and him having refreshed his screen miraculously confirmed the following:

1. System Code was 9000 Departed Plant then changed to 6000 Transfer to Distribution as we spoke!
2. Shipping from factory to the UK will take approx 5-10 days.
3. Transfer from Port to S Yorkshire (Thorne) BMW Storage and Quality Control (apparently for stringent quality checks for all BMW's entering the UK) to take approx 2-3 Days.
4. Transfer from S Yorkshire to Dealership and final checks 2-3 Days.

He said if things go to plan I should have the car in a fortnight.

Lets see..

No lol I got a reply from BMW to say that my car is not on the system and that I needed a full VIN number and reg number. Reg number I have as it is private plate, but not registered to my new car yet.

When was your car built? Mine shows on BMWVIN that it was born on the 16th November....Happy Birthday my little 330D

lol.. mine shows a 'Prod.date' of 20th November I am assuming it is the Birthday of my new baby...

Our cars may be arriving in the UK around the same time on the same ship

, have you had an update from your dealer... what code are you at?

Apparently my car has just left the plant

so my dealer is expecting to see it by the end of next week for delivery early the week after!

Yes got it on my iPhone, and all logged in now. On features it only shows 'send location to car' icon. No option for flash lights or lock/unlock. I assume this is locked out until delivered?

Not too sure - I know in the M3 it will only lock/unlock, "find car" and allow you to send destinations from phone to car nav. Other options don't work (lights, horn etc), so I think it depends on the car and what is supported. Shame you can't tell it to heat up the seats + turn on the heating remotely.

Yes turning on the heated seats would be a good feature

Booo, When I am fed up after a long business trip, trying to find the car in the Stansted airport car park, usually at night in the rain I was hoping I could remotely flash the lights.....seeing it happy to see me would lift the spirits

If it really left the production line a month ago you should have had it by now!!

Did you contact BMW Customer Services? I would also speak to the Dealer Principle directly...time to put your foot down.

lol..Matey If your baby is here next week mine won't be to far behind..

I have'nt received my text yet hopefully wont be long, from what I gather for you to receive the text you car should be in the UK..

Maestro you need to login here and fill in the form..

You will need your VIN and REG details, your car must be in the UK before they will accept your application.

Once accepted they will text you your on-line username and password..
