I'm trying to figure out the tail lights...
Usually BMW tail lights have one part on the rear fender side and one on the trunk lid, the part on the fender being thicker and ending higher up, but the 2 parts usually being clearly separated at sharp angles on each side of the trunk lid edge which cuts the tail lights into 2. ![]() ![]() Scott26's sketch seems to confirm this traditional tail light design: ![]() Strangely enough it seems as though the 2 parts of the prototype's taillights blend/merge into each other instead of stopping at a sharp angle on each side of the trunk lid edge: ![]() I wonder if it's only some delusional camo undernearh the black tarp or if the 4er tail lights indeed do not have this traditional design and, instead, are closer to the X6 flowing/no sharp angles tail lights design (much less common): ![]() But then it wouldn't be consistent with Scott26's sketch... I think the profile picture that some of you guys have used to measure the vehicle's length with the 19" rims serving as measure unit has delusional proportions, hence you came up with an unrealistically short total length...
Here are a few other profile pics you can use: ![]() --> These seem to be the F30's 17" type 394 ![]() ![]() --> Unknown to me but apparently 17" as well --> M4 apparently on 19" Maybe the measures will prove me wrong but I can't quite believe the F32 is shorter than the F30 or even the E92 (F30 is 4m62, E90 is 4m52 and E92 is 4m59)... unless BMW deliberately made the F32 less spacious than the E92 so that people looking for rear room upgrade to the 4 GranCoupé ![]() Last edited by advantage20; 11-18-2012 at 10:28 AM. |

One thing that bugs me about all the renders so far, is that NONE get the kidney/headlight transition correct! It's not going to look just like an F30 nose. The lights will connect to the top of the kidneys, then pull away as it goes lower. You can see this on the 5GT (kind of), or the 328i hommage. SCOTT26's sketches of the nose (side) reflect this clearly. |

Done this very quickly... Still puzzling
![]() If these were 18" though the result would approximately equal the E92 length. Last edited by advantage20; 11-18-2012 at 11:36 AM. |

The reason that isn't working is that the car is not perfectly straight across in relation to the camera. If it is pointing towards or away from the camera it will hide the length when measuring it. Last edited by bimmerjph; 11-18-2012 at 12:18 PM. |

This looks promising!
Maybe this has been brought up in the thread before but to me it looks like the back wheel is too much forward in the wheel housing. But i guess thats going to be fixed on the production cars as this pictured car is only a test car. Last edited by Holset; 11-18-2012 at 06:37 PM. |

Of course they will, why wouldn't they?
I guess the 4er will (globally) get: 420i (184ps) 425i (218ps) 428i (245ps) 435i (320ps?) 420d (184ps) 425d (218ps) 430d (258ps) 435d (313ps) + M Performance variant(s) 340ps M440i?? 330ps M440d?? Last edited by advantage20; 11-20-2012 at 09:57 AM. |

Maybe this car is shorter. It is a 2 door for one and it would look better shorter. They also want to seperate it from the 3 sedan. Being physically different also helps to establish another reason for the increased cost as it is usually more expensive from a production numbers view to have two different wheel bases.
Also it kind of makes sense. 4 series 2 door shorter on its own wheel base, 3 sedan on its longer wheelbase, and 4 Grand Coupe on the stretched 3 series LI wheel base. It starts to visually really separate the cars. I like it as with the light weight suspension the M version is supposed to be getting and less body to haul around the M4 could have a nice weight loss. Also the 4 series would be a more nibble handler with the shorter wheel base. ![]() |

The car actually looks smaller than the F30. At least judging from the man standing outside the car. Definitely looks more sexy and more sporty than E92 though on the side pics (compared to the red E92)

Also, would the M-sport be available from the start or can we expect a 6 month delay as with the F30? |

I'm going to reserve my thought the F32 will be priced well above F30. Time will tell... I don't think BMW will price it beyond it's intended market, look at the E89 Z4, priced too high for the casual sports car enthusiast.
