Pretty much all of them.

Car & Driver, Road & Track, Evo, Top Gear, Automobile, Autocar, that's just off the top of my head in no particular order. Motor Trend is a rag.

Sorry, I don't think the F30 is going to win it. First, if you look at the history of their award, I didn't see ANY 3-Series, not the E90 or the E46 which was considered the best. Second, the ATS was better than expected and coming very close to the F30. If the ATS was not as good as it is, the F30 would have a stronger case to be COTY.

If I had to pick I would likely pick the FR-S/BRZ. I don't see how you could be disappointed with that car given the purpose it was manufactured for and at that price point.

Most reviews, include MT, state the ATS is ultimately let down by the motor and tranny. They can't overlook those things when it comes to CotY.

I don't think it will be the FR-S/BRZ. If you look at the history of MT's CotY, the typically pick cars with more mass appeal, i.e. cars with a 4-door option. In the past 10 years, only one car (GT-R) has been a coupe-only. And the GT-R is/was way more revolutionary than the FR-S/BRZ.

I had a Passat rental as well. Its a nice car, but I use the word nice very purposefully because its nothing more than nice.

I found the rental car to be woefully underpowered, the seats were too skinny and the stupid panic button on the side of the key fob meant I kept pressing the button every time I tried to start the car.

Car of the year? No. Nice care of the year? Maybe.

Agreed with everything you said. Those VW keys really piss me off too. Every time I put the key in my pocket, I hit the switchblade button thing and it opens up and gets tangled with my keys.

So the Tesla Model S got car of the year. I think it was a good pick and cant be upset with their decision. One was actually in traffic beside me today.
